Great suggestion! I stopped watching all tv about 9 years ago for greater peace at home to marvelous effect, but listen regularly to a few podcasts, which I will skip tonight for the Cure. But the computer and iPhone are now my addictive interfaces. I'll hop off the computer when my work is done at about 8. The challenge will be to not check email after then, but I'll give it a whirl and appreciate the group effort.

Day 11: Try a Media Fast Apartment Therapy January Cure

My project is to hang a curtain between my living room/office and my bedroom to create separation potential there. I was hung up on a sense of dissatisfaction with the paint I chose for my living room (F and B Joa's White, which went up about 2 weeks ago) - all my next steps, including the curtain color, was hinging on this color choice being right - but a friend opened my eyes to how lovely it is. So I'm letting this be the color and moving on. It really is soft and subtle and so much warmer and more grounded than the bright white that I had going on before that hurt my eyes. And the red undertones really pull together my whole palette. It has a little more brown in it than I had hoped, but I plan to add a bit of brightness elsewhere (recovering a chair, pillows, trim, etc…).

So today (or soon): to Home Depot to see if they have the hardware I'm after (wood fluted rod and end brackets) and if not, I'll find them online and order them.
This weekend, ponder paint trim colors, get some sample paints, and move forward with painting the trim. Then I'll be poised to choose curtains that work with my evolving colors.

Thanks for the support.

paperless post is an elegant choice, they are fun to create, and many of their offerings are free--the best part is how the invitations spin in space like a real hard copy card. friends have said it is the least virtual (most virtual?) of all the the virtual card experiences out there. I use them for almost all online greetings and invites now. love them!

I plan to hang curtains as a divider between my living room and bedroom for privacy when guests sleep on the couch and to close off the bedroom when otherwise appropriate. I've been round and round with how to go about this, but every solution has been unsatisfactory including the latest one (tall curtains hung on the LR side). I was enjoying Lonnymag yesterday and saw a great example of what I'd like, at last: curtains that go right across the opening-- but rather than using a tension rod, rigged with a thick wood decorative rod. Plus I'll need the panels. Can't wait!
