I swear by a good litter box liner. For my cats litter box I use the pads that are used in hospital beds for incontinent patients (Attends make them in the UK and I think you can get them in the US). Line the bottom of your litter box with one of these and it absorbs all the moisture and locks away the smells. You can get a similar product from pet shops, usually called a kitten or puppy house training pad, but they are quite expensive in comparison. You can get away with using a cheaper litter (as my cat never liked the odour absorbing ones) and the pad keeps the smells at bay. Ideal Kitty Litter for Apartment Dwellers? Good Questions |

This is a really lovely apartment and a great use of space, but where are their clothes stored? I couldn't see anything in the space that would accommodate even a small wardrobe. Dane & Leah's Craigslist Kingdom Small Cool Contest |

I live in the UK where owning your home is almost expected. I still remember having a conversation with my father when I was about 19 where he told me that renting was for idiots and I was wasting my money; I should buy a house and get a foot on the ladder. My husband and I went ahead and bought a house (with a mortgage so we don't truly own it) and the next conversation with my father was where he told me that having a mortgage was a constant burden and I was stupid to give up my lovely rental. Owning is a constant stress that comes with masses of expense and sometimes we do consider going back to rental... I'm Renting...And Okay with That |

Stunning. I was lucky enough to visit Scotty's Castle in Death Valley last year and so many parts of this house reminded me of that. Such fantastic taste. The Iconic Charles Farrell Estate |

I'm sorry but working at home with a toddler around is impossible. I work from home and I barely have time to get dressed on most days as the phone starts ringing early as people know I'm not on the commute. My employer pays me to work and meet the deadlines that this involves; there is no way that work can be put aside to indulge in play time with the children. What this piece doesn't mention is whether you work for an employer or for yourself... Making it Work: Working From Home With Kids |

Here in the UK we tend to either cut it into cubes and add it to stews or, my personal favourite, boil it up with carrots then drain and mash with lots of butter and black pepper. It is lovely on the side of a roast meat or on top of a shepherd pie. It sounds pretty exotic to call it rutabaga. In Yorkshire, where I am from, we call it turnip rather than swede. Confusingly we also call turnips, turnips! We also carve them at Halloween instead of pumpkin. Why You Should Give Rutabaga a Chance |

We keep ours in a couple of victorian linen press cupboards - the shelves are just the right depth and in the UK you can pick up good quality pine ones for a couple of hundred pounds. The overspill of the collection is however dumped in various areas all over the house! Record Album Storage: 10 Solutions |
