We purchased 2 rolls of Tempaper when Fab.com had a sale last year. The stuff is awful. It was much harder to work with than the real wallpaper we got from Ferm Living a couple years back. The trouble is that because you have a backing paper to unroll while you are applying it, you can't go around corners and it's very hard to apply. Bubbles abound. Honestly, you're better off with doing real wallpaper. We're going to do a painted stencil instead. I'm selling the rest on ebay. Also, the quality of the print on tempaper is poor. I have a friend who does large scale vinyl graphics and they were appalled. One caveat- maybe if you are doing just a small wall with no coners, doors, windows, etc you might have ok luck. I'm just glad I didn't pay full price for this failed experiment. You do have to be careful because it pulled the paint off when we removed it- admittedly, that is probably the awful paint job in our rental, but still something to consider.

This is really interesting! I didn't realize this was such a common practice, but I suppose in really tight quarters anything is fair game. I would've thought it would be a fire hazard to store anything on top of a stove, gas or electric.

It never occurred to me to straight line file! I'm going to do it when I get home!

clickchick- since you don't have pets it's no wonder you don't get why we're always covered in fur, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IT ALL OFF. Lint brush/tape all you want, the stuff is impossible to get off. It's all part of the trade off of living with animals, they give you so much joy a little fur in return is worth it.

That said, I would love to know if these work as well! I may have to try them.

How timely! I just spend an hour last night looking for an orange sunbrella or equivalent fabric in the upholstery weight (not marine). Haven't found quite the orange we want so I will have to go to F&S!

Hi-Poster here...Thank you AT and all you readers so much for all the comments!! I'm so happy to see other people like the piece as much as we do.

Just to answer a couple questions; the wood is stained dark brown, that's original to the piece. Not sure if we would want to paint it. White looks nice but I think would look dated very quickly.

There are some great links here. I too, thought of Amy Butler but even it might be too mod. I'm loving the suggestions about blue velvet. Mom has cats, which isn't the best mix but she could put a blanket down. Linen is nice too but as someone else mentioned, it might wrinkle too much.

Wasn't considering changing up the cushions but that's something to think about.

I am in LA so I will try F&S; haven't looked there yet, just looked at Calico Corners and Diamond so far. Downtown is very overwhelming, I've never found anything good down there-maybe I'm looking in the wrong places. I remember one upholstery shop that had a nice showroom and reasonable prices, a block north of Michael Levine's I think.

We are also on the second floor and so we thought we'd give some of that window washing fluid you screw onto a hose a try. BAD IDEA! Luckily, one of us was in the house watching the windows while the other sprayed but needless to say leaks abounded due to our 1950's windows.

These are fantastic! I too am a little over the decals, I already have some Blik Flock on my wall, but these I would love to put somewhere....
