I apologize for commenting again, but I do live in a small one bedroom apartment. I built a clothes rack outside of my bedroom closet, which is the only closet in my apartment. I use the bedroom closet to house all of my art supplies, along with my one box of Christmas decorations, spare blankets for guests to sleep on the pull out bed, etc. I have a tiny space and every inch of it is used creatively, so I don't have to pay for a storage unit. I do a monthly apartment sweep and donate all the extras that have accumulated in that time. I once read an article of a man who made a decision to only own 100 things. This included underwear, toothbrush, pots, pans, you get the idea. He admitted it was a little extreme, but he does serve as an inspiration for purging our need as Americans that more is better!

Storage units are one of the weirdest things to me. I understand using a storage unit for a transition, like moving, but honestly, don't we already have too much stuff. Why pay to put your stuff somewhere else?

I love all the books! When I moved across the country, I donated EVERYTHING, kitchen things, furniture, clothing, and kept the mattress and all my books. I would never give up my book collection. Kudos to you, Chelsea, for keeping such an important and personal collection in the small space, which is super cute, by the way!

Was it easier to cover the hole in the wall with sequins than patch the holes? Just thought that was funny. :) Cute place.

What a great post. I too have seen how easy it is for me, at the end of a busy day, to default to watching shows and my artisitc endeavers are laid by the way side. As an attempt to cultivate my creativity, my personal rule is that I can not watch a show before ten in the evening. This way, I have ample time to pour myself into my other hobbies as well.

The only negative comments about the TV in this post came from people who own a TV. I do not own a TV and I am also not a hipster... I do, however, love to watch TV shows, so I hook up speakers to my lap top and make television watching an intentional activity.

The day I am not capable to clean up my own messes will be a sad day. I can't imagine throwing away $120 every two weeks for this service?! That's $240 a month! I would prefer to put that money into savings and learn to scrub my own tub...

I just watched the demo for the wall doctor... um? Anyway, if you're willing to pay for the Eames wall hooks, why not also pay a carpenter to custom build a narrow table for the hallway and while you're at it, why not also pay for a professional to remove the old hooks and correctly patch the holes in the walls and paint.

I love this look. Half of my tiny apartment is painted black with low light. So cozy.

I count myself lucky to live in a small apartment that does not allow for basement clutter. The less space I have, the less stuff I accumulate. Good luck with the cleaning!

Ha. I just finished folding and putting away laundry right before I read this post. I don't have the problem of putting away fresh laundry, I fit into the other category of throwing clothes around as I'm trying to get dressed.

I'm in! But it should be noted that most people, including myself, will wait until January to submit, so I don't have Christmas decorations included in my pictures!

This is such a beautiful home with so much potential. Why don't you invest in some colorful furniture to add texture and color. One black leather sofa seems kinda boring. Why not buy a more colorful sofa and some accent chairs. Add pops of color around the rest of the house with curtains and art. Don't do an accent wall, that's so outdated. Maybe think about replacing your dining room table with a wood piece rather than the white you have. If you want to keep the table set then keep it exciting and fresh with colorful flowers.

Stick with the essentials. Chapstick, lotion. toothbrush, and of course candy. I wouldn't snub my nose at socks however!
