This was fairly easy for me as my bedroom consists of 2 dressers, a full length mirror and a bed haha. I vacuumed pretty hardcore (much to the chagrin of my silly kitty) dusted thoroughly, tidied up my jewelry/knickknacks, and changed the bedding.

We have a closet/bath attached to our bedroom and I used the time to clean that bathroom we rarely use (easy!) and organize the closet. I have such a hard time with my shoes. I have the nice ones in their boxes but my cheapy ones sit in a laundry basket on the floor that I can hardly see.

I threw some old flare jeans and a too-snug sweater in the outbox. Thinking I could have found more. Oh well...

I guess Im lucky on this front. Having organized my bookcase/file bins before the holidays I only need to file what is floating around. My bf does most of the bill paying online but there are still papers everywhere, I thought we signed up for paperless darnit!

I do need to invest in a shredder though, tearing the mail into tiny pieces takes foreverrrr

What about a curtain rod that bows out? Something that wouldnt touch any of the appliances? Im sure you could find something flame retardant.

On the other hand, closing it off might make the space seem smaller. Maybe embrace it and decorate the fridge with pictures? Buy beautiful utensils to go on the counter?

I wish I had a door to my kitchen too, it's wide open and I HATE the peeling laminate cabinets.

Sigh...the life of a (cheap) renter.

I think I am a pretty shy person and struggle to connect with people something but you know what...some of the most friendly people I've met are senior citizens. My car battery died at the grocery store and I was standing around on my cell phone looking pathetic. An elderly man, probably pushing 80, asked me if I needed help...let me use his jumper cables and actually gave me one of his Gatorades. We talked for a while in the parking lot about his old Mustangs and how I should take better care of my car (since they dont make Saturn's anymore haha) It was really nice to connect with a random stranger like that

Moral of that story? Old people are awesome, talk to them. They have cool stories.

This weekend wasn't so fun. With a father-in-law in hospice, a fiance sleeping away, and a freakin' oven to clean! I wasn't happy.

I managed to clean the inside/outside of the fridge, oven and sink. I didnt worry about cleaning my cabinets too much because they weren't that dirty. I probably should have pulled the fridge out and cleaned behind it but since I was by myself I didnt want to risk it

I organized them and got rid of glasses without pairs. I didnt get rid of any other cookware because I'm fairly minimalist as is. I did take the time to reorganize my pantry and I gave away like 5 packets of Ramen to our neighbor. t.

Used up all my my cleaning products so Im going back to day-whatever and buying some eco-cleaner. I figured it was pretty eco to use up what you had before you bought more right?

Day 8: Weekend Chores - Flowers, Kitchen Cleaning & Make Yourself a Meal Apartment Therapy January Cure

My goal project has been to locate a new couch and make my office more cozy.

I have been looking for couches but nothing is striking my fancy. I have the cash so one better pop up soon before I accidentally fall into Sephora or something.

I succeeded in my office in finding some art. I just need to hang it. I've been procrastination doing that because I would have to move around some furniture to do it. TODAY is the day!

I just got a little bit of a promotion at work and so I'm thinking I could get my mom to buy me these mirrors I've been coveting at Target instead of taking me to dinner to celebrate. She understands lol

Once I hang those in the office all I need is to find a couch for the LR so I can move the old one in to it.

Good job everybody! I think the most satisfying part of the Cure is marking the items off my to-do list. Feels pretty good.

Love the rug! I've been contemplating doing a DIY "Go Away" doormat with spray paint. This is cute too!

Currently I am front door mat-less but I shamelessly use the neighbors (whose entry is 2 ft away) if my shoes are especially dirty :-)

Me too! I think I might buy a small shredder for underneath my entry table because all the ads and junk mail are overwhelming.

I'm telling myself that I would remember to use it and shred all of our sensitive materials instead of just forgetting it is under the table and letting the mess pile up again like I usually do :-/ haha

I like this Ed! At least for myself, if I would prioritize more and focus on only one thing important and beneficial ...not all the phases I start and finish, I think I would get a lot more accomplished.

I don't have a Bucket List per-se (Im only 23!) But, I would really love to see Yellowstone or Yosemite this year. I've lived on the East Coast all my life but I really think I would fit in out west.

In fact I'd be happy to travel anywhere not along the freakin' Atlantic Ocean! haha

For me, the most important tip is to go on a WEEKDAY. I know this might be hard for some people, but since I work weird hours and have to drive 90mins, I dont want to be rushed and surrounded by people too. My ma took a half day from work with me last time on a Wednesday and it was so quiet. We loved it!

For those with little sunlight.

Try clipping a few branches of a philodendron or other water-loving plant...but it in a tall glass or vase and it will live forver! it wont grow but it wont die! I love having plants in my bathroom but there is NO light. this option works great.
