I second (or third) the scrap paper idea. Even if you get the arrangement perfect on the floor, assuming you have the floor space, you don't see the visual weight on the wall in relation to your other walls/furniture. I'm pretty compulsive and just did this with cut up grocery bags, used tape to mimic the frames, and even taped small printouts of the artwork in the center so that I could balance the color.
