My wife and I each brought a trunk into the relationship over 20 years ago. Each now contain a variety of our children's keepsakes. No way we paid over $20 for them. The touble with some of the new ones is that they aren't very sturdy for more than basic storage. Triple Threat Trunks: Storage, Table & Seat |

I manage a small team (about 6-8) people in a state government agency. No extra money there! Last year, to recognize the staff working on Christmas and New Year's Eve, I brought in bagels. Good snack and we enjoyed some team time when the phones weren't ringing. Seemed to go over well. I'm taking time off this year so might have a breakfast pizza delivered for those working. Costs me about $20-25 but worth the improved morale. Holiday Gift Ideas for Large Group at Work? Good Questions |

I may meet all the criteria mentioned above, but I still find myself thinking "This is not my large automobile. This is not my beautiful house. This is not my beautiful wife. How did I get here?" (Talking Heads, "Once In A Lifetime") What Do You Need to Live Like a Grown-Up? |

I'd like to have more sympathy but it seems excessive to spend $69,000 outfiting hotel rooms with device-specific alarm clocks. I do appreciate the growing number of hotel rooms that have USB charging ports available. I'm fine with a basic alarm clock. Give me a USB charging port or a standard electrical outlet close enough to the bed/night table and I'll choose for myself how I get up on time. Why Hotels Hate the New iPhone 5 |

I'm really curious to hear from everyone that "cut the cable," how do you get your internet? I currently have Xfinity Triple Play. While I don't like the cost and customer service has been spotty for me, I can't argue with the broadband internet. When You've Cut the Cable (But Still Love TV): Roku 2 XS Tech Test Lab Review |

If you're going to get an electric drill/driver (cordless or corded), look for one with a light. I don't have one but wish I did. My dad has one. Can't tell you how many times having a little spot light would have made the job easier. The Basics: 10 Must Have Essentials for a Small Space Toolkit |

Add one more vote for Google Voice. I'm on the regional board of a volunteer organization. I use GV as my official phone number and freely give it out. It's also posted on the website of our national organization. When my time as a board member is done, no worries about who has the number. I also appreciate getting a text message from voicemail messages. Gives me a good idea about who called and why without actually checking my voicemail. We opted for a Mickey Mouse shaped pool. I was trying to maximize the funky shape of our yard so was originally considering kidney shape. I also wanted a more organic shape instead of a rectangular pool. The designer played a bit on her computer and came up with a great form for our yard. Three basic depths (3, 4, and 6 ft), a lanai bench about 18" deep, and a cool sheer fall (waterfall). Yeah, I wish I could swim laps. But trust me when I say, we get plenty of exercise playing in the pool with the kids. Have had great comments from guests. It's also solar heated and salt instead of chlorine. Bottom line, find the best form for your situation and enjoy! Small Space Swimming: Lap Pools |

Funny post! I prefer waterfall but have found that it really depends on the location. My cat used to love unrolling the TP in the master bathroom so underhand was the way to go. At work, we have dispensers that work better when the TP is installed underhand. Seems to be a form vs function debate. How To: Hang Your Toilet Paper Correctly? |

I have a Motorola Droid X on Verizon. Had a Blackberry Storm as my first smartphone. Like the DX better than the Storm. Chose DX because iPhone not available on Verizon at the time and had no desire to change carriers for a variety of reasons. I'm still trying to take best advantage of the smartphone, regardless of which phone I have. Feels like a Swiss Army knife and I only use a couple of the blades. On the battery issue, I can go all day without issues unless I watch videos on youtube or downloaded movie.
