Very cute place! I love your Pyrex collection and all of your woodland items. I usually groan when I see deer heads, but this doe made me smile. I'm glad you rescued her. :-)

I have this exact same style counter in my place, separating the kitchen from the dining and living areas. I originally put barstools there but never used them, and it made the walkway too crowded. I thought about putting a low bookshelf in front of it, but decided against that too. I agree that putting anything on the counter will just clutter the space. I vote for either a really shallow cabinet underneath, or nothing at all.

I love the whimsy associated with some of these recreations, particularly the monster who made me laugh out loud. Also, remember that art is like music... There are many different types and tastes. Don't belittle someone else's creation just because you don't personally care for it.

Giving Up Your Pets: A Happy Ending

I'm glad this story has such a happy ending! Now I'm going to get on a soapbox for a minute, so forgive me... For those of you who say you'd rather take pills or use inhalers than give up your pets, you don't know what it's like... I have a severe cat allergy. If I visit someone's house and they have a pet cat, the asthma attacks feel like my esophagus and lungs have been burned and scratched with sandpaper. I've literally gone into anaphylactic shock from cat dander before, where my throat constricted shut within minutes and I couldn't make a sound, much less breathe. Please be understanding of your friends who have such severe allergies. It can be debilitating, and it's not their fault. Studies show that each asthma attack replaces normal lung tissue with scar tissue. I'm 30 years old and have less than half of the normal lung capacity. It's not worth it to suffer through analler at the risk of your own welfare.

I'm really worried that in 50 years I'll be telling my grandkids, "You know, back in my day we read actual books! Made of paper!" My books are some of my most prized items, and I really hope we don't resort to only digital reading in the future.

The first photo is mesmerizing, as I've always wanted unicorns to be real. I'm a horse lover too, but there's nothing in that first photo that indicates those are real horse heads. Museums in particular have become expert at creating fake animals. I visited one recently in Kentucky where I couldn't tell the horses were fake until I was about one foot away. So cool!

Me too! I learned about the Christmas special long before it happened. I was very very upset (and devastated). I wish that show in particular aired in the UK and U.S. at the same time to avoid such spoiler issues.

Oh my God, I love your place! I've never seen another tour on AT that looked so much like a *home*. I like that you're not afraid to display all items, big and small. I also love your color palate, with all the different shades of wood.

I have to wear socks otherwise I can't fall asleep. I spray lavender spray on my pillow and play a 30-minute YouTube video of crickets chirping. Once that noise starts, I am so gone.

You are right on. I'm afraid the American sense of materialism is fostered at a young age. I miss the good old days when us kids were pushed outside and told to "go play". We came up with some fantastic games, that involved no toys, no video games, no internet. Ahh it was great.

I just can't get into this style. It reminds me too much of WWI hospital triage rooms. I must be watching too much Downton Abbey...

Your plants are really cute, I can see why you're attached to them. Have you thought of contacting a local nursery to see if they can hold them for you, then ship them once you're settled at your new place? They would hopefully know how to correctly package them and might give you peace of mind to know they're being handled well. It would cost some money but seems to be the way to go if you can't move them yourself.

I really love your new chairs, and I feel your pain with searching for the perfect table to complement them. I personally love the tabletop you have, but think the legs are too blocky and clutter the area under the table. I agree with what some others have already said-- get more streamlined legs for the tabletop. Good luck!

Good Lord, people, it's just a pillow! And it's their home, so I believe they are allowed to keep whatever they like in it. I'm surprised so many people are offended by the F-word.
