I need a vertical landing strip. In our new, small in-law, I have a 3 x 8 ft wall between the bedroom and the bathroom, which I think would be a good place to have pockets for the mail, possibly some kind of pocket or hanger for the phone (as there is an outlet), clips to hang gloves (in season). I saw some great new burlap prints the other day that might make a decorative backdrop for such a piece. Also, I need something for the counter in the kitchen to store the laptops and tablets. I would like something like a vertical file system, but have not found anything yet. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I need some ideas on a vertical landing strip. We have moved into a 600 sq ft in-law. I do not have a place (I don't think) for a table as I enter but I do have a wall between my bathroom and bedroom door where I think I could do something. 3' wide with 8' ceiling. Because we have reduced our living space dramatically, I have to make use of every inch of storage space that I can find but not to make it cluttered looking. Thank you.

We love chicken marsala around our house. I am looking for a caramel cake recipe (not just a yellow cake with caramel frosting). I liked th Duncan Hines mix but they do not sell it in any of the stores that I frequent, so I need a good recipe. I have a frosting recipe that I like. Thank you.

I am working on the mantra of reuse, reduce, recycle. I have fabric, fibers threads, frames. I have searched through my patterns and am on the road to creating of gifts. Reduce the stash.

Libraries are a great source of savings--books, CDs, DVDs. I borrow craft books to review before I make the decision (and a lot of times not) to buy.

None of the stores sell any of the items less than any other store--I firmly believe there is one low sale price set by the manufacterer. So go with a list, get only what is on sale (with a coupon).

We have downsized from 1800 to 600 sq ft and I keep looking for better ways to neaten up and things I can live without. My kitchen counter seems to have a lot on it and I am looking for some way to neaten up the cells, tablet and reader when charging. I think I am going to try the IKEA wooden magazine holder sideways (saw on Pinterest) under the upper cabinet to slide items into to keep it a little neater in appearance.

I will head that way tonight when I return from work. This week my DH put together some pieces of wood that I found on discount at HD to make a picture shelf, which I will use as a spice rack (cost $2.50 for 2' shelf). I am going to get some more to make one for over the sink in the bathroom (and other places around the house that can use little storage).

My goals have been since we moved into our newly built, down -sized in law is to create storage "nooks." I have been looking for something to store the laptops, tablets and phones while charging--not really finding what is in my imagination; but I did find somewhere the use of an Ikea wooden magazine storage box, hung up sideways where the phones and tablets could be put, off the counter, into when charging. Also found that a picture ledge could be used as a spice rack, hanging it on the wall (getting the large, does not hold all rack) off the counter. And I also think that could be used in the bathroom. I am going to use a picture frame or old window and chicken wire in my bedroom for my earrings, necklaces and whatever else can be hung from it. And I need shelves in my closets. Also, in my bedroom, I am going to have underbed storage and a high shelf for storage.

Last night's sleep was interrupted with rambling thoughts of organizational, decorative pieces. In my kitchen I have a garden arbor on which I hang my pots and pans. I was thinking it might be a useful idea in the bathroom with some towel rods and baskets added..
I have been thinking about a piece of artwork lately, which I am going to create from what I have. I saw on Pottery Barn a metal sculpture family tree piece. I have the metal sculpture piece that I bought at TJ Maxx, and I am going to purchase a piece of upholstery fabric to cover a board, attach the metal sculpture to the board and add 3-4" frames with pictures of family members. In my new living room, I have cathedral ceiling, so in my own imagination it will look good on the large blank wall over the sofa.

We have recently moved from 1600 sq feet to 600 sq feet (in-law apt) and I still have boxes. This was the first Saturday in many months that I did not leave the house the first thing in the morning. I first worked in the kitchen. With a smaller kitchen, I want to reduce my utensils to the basic necessities. I still cook a lot. I then hit the bedroom where there are boxes stashed in the corner making the bedroom unrestful. I need to whittle down to a basic wardrobe (5-day work wardrobe & 2-day and a few hours/wk hang out wardrobe.) I went through 3 boxes made one an out box and the other clothing that we have not and will not wear anymore. (I'll wash and give to my SIL at the charity guild.) I have a pile of trash in the hallway. Tomorrow I will take down the Christmas tree. It's only 4 ft and I enjoy looking over my collection of decorations on it.

Thank you for this offer. I came across this because I was going to use the kitchen articles to reduce my kitchen equipment to basic supplies for a workable kitchen. We have downsized from 1800 sq feet to 600 sq feet, just the rooms you plan to work on. I need to create some storage--shelving (over doors), places to hang things (chicken wire and frame for earrngs), under the bed (clothing)
I knit, do cross stitch and sometimes sew. I have fabric, fiber and threads and patterns. I have unfinished projects that can become gifts.
This will be a project. I hope that I succeed.
