Extra Pillows in Kids' Rooms: Decorative or Dustcatchers?
5/2/13 9:59 AM

I just learned this week that my 10 year old is allergic to dust mites so we're paring down pillows and stuffed animals rather than adding them. :/

A favorite smell from home would be nice to someone who cares about that sort of thing. Like a bottle of perfume, a scented candle with a lid, or some essential oils. Not to spray around the room, but rather to just take out and smell when needing some comfort. I just flew on a long flight recently and this saved my bacon when I started getting panicky about flying. (A bacon scent would be lovely too....lol).

Great article full of really useful tips. I'm an introvert and it is difficult for me to step out and try out new friendships. I tend to stick with my small circle of friends and my family. Time to stop being so lazy!

This is really inspiring to me. I love how everything is so obviously vetted for the space. No clutter, no redundancies, no excess. And oh my goodness, the textures make me want to touch everything. Everything looks so sumptuous and refined. I'm sure I'll be back time and again to read this and look at that divine abode. Mmmmmmmmmmm. Lovely.

This drives me batty. We rent, we love where we live, we can move wherever and whenever we want, we don't sweat repairs and we are in our forties and have two children. We do not require sympathy. We are smart and happy thankyouverymuch.

This makes my heart go pitter patter. It looks delicious and I'm sure your guests will forever remember this meal.

I'm glad you sourced the water glasses. Now that all of our glassware is broken I know what to replace them with. Where did you get those lovely wine glasses and carafe?

It is truly refreshing to see a spread where the space is charming and imperfect and the people who live there use their space. I bet their food is wonderful and eating with them would be loads of fun. We have a tiny a** kitchen like that (minus the charm) but DH and I always enjoy spending time together creating meals. Well done y'all!

If I spent that kind of money on makeup I'd sure want it to look good too. (That's envy, not snark.) Since I'm pretty conservative with my makeup it fits into one smallish (but cute!) bag for everyday use and another small bag for special occasion stuff. You are smart to set up a system for yourself. I bet you'll be using the same one for years.

Kris---lol. Didn't know that either.

Our front loading machine gets funky because the rubber seal doesn't always fully dry and it's black so I don't really notice that it's grody until it starts smelling. You've inspired me to go de-gunk my machine. :)

And snarkers gonna snark. Ignore.

We've used the art caddy that I heart organizing blogged about for around a year. It's nice enough looking that it lives in our dining room and actually gets used every single day. Our problem is that our six year old daughter channels Edward Scissorhands and leaves little bits of cut up paper everywhere she goes. It is both adorable and slightly maddening.
