Don't forget that there is a difference between a neighborhood and a suburb. Renton is a suburb - not part of the city of Seattle. I hate when people (not locals, of course) say that I live in the Greenwood suburb. It's not a suburb!

I think Kristi's makeover is stunning and original! Great job! As far as the safety concerns, I think people need to give a little more benefit of the doubt that she's a reasonably intelligent person and didn't put up the surround without any thought to code/safety, right? As for the tv haters - god forbid anyone design their home in a way that's convenient for them to actually LIVE in. People watch tv in their homes. Sometimes, the best (or only) place for one is *gasp* over the fireplace.

We have Crate and Barrel's Sloane Leaning Bar in our house and everything on it is exposed as it has no cabinet doors. We initially purchased it because our house is old and cabinet space is extremely limited. I think it's fun, I'm a drinker and so are my friends and it's an easy-access way to store our liquor/glassware/bar tools! If anyone came into my home and thought it was weird or tacky, then I would question my choice of spending my time and sharing my home with said people. Loosen up! Why would anyone spend the energy caring about where other people stored their bar stuff? Bah.

I'd pick the Big Sur Mirror from Anthropologie...the natural wood edges on this one would add the warmth and texture to the space and is totally unique!
