Gotta love people who become shocked when you deviate from the social norm. We're entering our third year of renting, and yes, that's how long we've been out of school and married. But looking at the housing market, our savings rate, and living costs, we're really happy renting and plan to continue for at least the near future.

The pros: cheaper than a monthly mortgage payment, no maintenance costs, no repair costs, not even lawn maintenance! On the downside, I'd like a little more privacy and a bigger, private yard with room to breathe, but there are workarounds for that.

All in all, it'd be great if people would re-think cost of living and stop viewing renting as a horrible choice . Debt is not your friend, people. If you can't afford it, don't buy it. Period.

Believe it or not, we're in the process of doing the very same thing! Only our room is 9.5 x 10 ft.

Finally I have an excuse to get rid of the unused, "meh" mugs that match my dinnerware!

Does anyone have a solution to remove grease spots from flat wall paint? My landlord won't let me paint. I've tried dish detergent.
