If you think that a computer takes the place of all this, then I think you might not get it. Just to begin with, most of the knowledge and text in these books has not been digitized. There's just no other way to have access to this stuff other than to open the book. And then there's the issue of the book being more than the sum of its parts. The size, dimension, font, margins, gutter, and a million other factors impact the reader's interaction with the text. This is why book design matters, and as of now, there's no way to duplicate that on a computer. Nevermind the impact of these spaces as both architectural works and as public archives. I use an old San Pelligrino glass bottle for my Olive Oil- the green glass helps protect the oil, and it looks like on the counter. Plus I buy Olive Oil in huge tubs, so it's way easier to pour. Please, please, please. Compare prices for Apple laptops to identically equipped peecee's and you'll find very, very little price gap. It's only when you compare unlike that the price gap seems huge. ChrisGal- Why is it so hard for you to accept that they WANT all their bikes? You've posted here more than anyone else, and you seem to be taking this personally. Also, the OP was about how to store the bikes, not how to downsize. They appear to have no interest in downsizing. Yeah- It's easy for someone who thinks a bike costs $200 to talk about downsizing. But the OP is a cyclist, and let me assure you- each one of those 14 is like a baby to them. Way back when I live with my folks, out collection hit about 17- and they ALL got ridden often. I'm at 6 on my own now. I built a rack given the lack of height in my setup- but you can get those rubber coated hooks (find them at HomeDepot, for example) and put one on every stud (16"). Alternate handlebars up and down, and they'll fit. You have to just accept how it's going to look... As a dj, it's nice to hear people talk about leaving this stuff out. Where you live is supposed to represent who you are, and hiding something like this away would be a shame. Over the last couple of years, there have been a LOT of posts on here about dj spaces- the general idea of which is that the best you can do is to embrace and make it look nice. Get a decent table. Build in some storage for 12's. Ikea, strangely enough, seems to be the spot for this. His decks are in road cases, so I'm going to make the assumption that he hauls them around a bit- in which case, a table is better than a build in console for ease of breakdown. My $0.02.
