@NaijaMango interfaces have borrowed from interfaces long before the smartphone. Android 1.0 looked like a blackerry for instance before borrowing from iOS, Windows Vista borrowed heavily from OSX/NeXT.

As for the let down of not surprising the audience - I actually feel that smartphones are at the peak of feature set at this point. The S4 was released with gimmicky features that by several accounts don't work (such as scrolling that follows eye movement). What really matters now isn't if a new smartphone has a feature that isn't on another phone but how well the smartphone will integrate with your lifestyle, and if it is difficult to do simple tasks or not.

you should probably wait till it's released before comparing it to Android or Windows phone. It looks nothing like Windows phone to me, which is confusing, and the only thing I see that looks similar on Android is the transitions.

The Xbox One's instant switching is a great solution to a common problem many folks with multiple peripherals deal with every day. I only have an Apple TV and a PS3 connected to my set, but it feels like a chore to switch between the two.

I don't think majority of the readers on this site watch live TV though. If the Xbox One had a DVDR functionality built in (it doesn't) I think this would entice a lot of people to get a unit, even those who don't care about gaming.

Also, how could you discuss voice activated TV without embedding this clip:

The great thing about Google Reader wasn't the amount of clients, but it's accessibility anywhere with an internet connection.

These all look like great clients, but what if I'm at my desk at work and all I have is a locked down Windows 7 PC? Or if I was visiting my parents and they don't know their Wi-Fi password? The perfect reader will not only sync to all our devices, but be accessible from a webpage as well.

Feedly looks like the best alternative for this right now, but I'm waiting for Reeder's response before dropping their iOS and OSX apps.

"even then, most streaming experiences have been satisfactory via Netflix (I can't say the same for AppleTV, where blame likely lands on Apple's shoulders, not TWC)."

Wondering why you brought this up - are you comparing Netflix streaming to iTunes streaming on an AppleTV? or Netflix streaming (i.e. on Roku) to Netflix streaming on an AppleTV?

If it's the latter, I've found that iTunes streaming has less hiccups with purchased season passes and purchased/rented HD movies. Netflix streaming on both Apple TV and my girlfriends Roku often struggles to keep a connection. We're both using Comcast.

I'm a big Reeder user too, on iOS and OSX. But when I'm at work on a Windows PC, I need a web browser solution. Seeing how Reeder can sync with Fever - I might have to consider that service next.

I switched from facing the room to facing the window years back. I feel connected to my neighbors when I can see outside while working, and I get some fresh air when it's warm enough to crack the window.

I agree with many of the comments that it isn't always the out-of-place technology behavior that takes the audience out of the show, but casting and odd representation of the characters.

For instance, how can someone have the body of a supermodel and work for Gregory House 16 hours a day? Sure, there are beautiful doctors in the world, but where do they find the time to work those abs and attend medical lectures, seminars, extra training and paperwork?

might be a good idea to note the difference between Component and Composite RCA cables. not that many folks use them anymore, but Component was the best output choice for a Nintendo Wii.

really considering one of these - if mounted on a wall, not only does it keep your cables off the desk, it also clears your desk of clutter when not using them.

USB, VGA, and simple power cables are entwined as a rats-nest in my closet. I also hoard RAM, ethernet, and wi-fi cards for some reason. I'm sure many of us can relate.

One thing that I am having a hard time getting rid of is stacks and stacks of DVD-Rs full of either videos, music, photos, old software tutorial files, old assignments, old projects, or old software. I purchased a 3TB drive to back everything up and ditch the disks, but then I wonder if I should sort through this stuff and keep what I need - that would take days. It's enough for me to put off the project.

I bought a used PlugBug off eBay to cut down on clutter when traveling. At home, I tried using it as a standalone iPad charger but it emits a hum when plugged in without the MacBook power brick.

Still holding on to it for traveling though.

I feel that most university classes should be instructed in a hybrid format. When students get the pacing of a class' curriculum down, they begin to skip classes because they can get by without being present for every class.
