I agree with you except for the lights above the counter. They just look completely in the way of everything! They must get bonked 10 times a day as the owner is working or simply pulling things off of the shelves. It's nice to see a kitchen that isn't "just so" and overdone.

There is no worse task in the world than changing the sheet on the top bunk. Absolute torture!

Get a foam mattress for the top and you'll have an easier time.

Agreed! Love those chips.

And I'm sorry to take a right turn here, but I just looked back at your chocolate chip cookie recipe and notice that you basically use the Toll House recipe, but with half the butter! I don't think anyone mentioned that in the comments and I'm dying to know how adding so little butter affects the cookies as compared to the recipe on the bag. Thanks, Emma!

Love this post...one of my mother's 'rules' was that you should always have some blue in the kitchen.

I have a saying: The Secret to A Successful Dinner Party is an Empty Dishwasher.

Even if it means doing a light load during the day, I'll make sure that my dishwasher is empty when things get rolling. Going to bed with dishes in the sink is just not an option an having an empty dishwasher that I can quickly/easily load is worth its weight in gold.

I use a tiny (knock off) Le Creuset casserole dish, though to your point about durability, they beak when dropped.

I'm not sure what they're really called, but they look like the big casserole dishes, but are only four or five inches in diameter.

I don't necessarily see these rooms as being organized...rather they have been expertly de-cluttered. I think there's a difference, no?

I am downright annoying about my devotion to my favorite whisk. It's an old Joyce Chen model with a wooden handle and it breaks my heart that I cannot find one anywhere.

Because I know it will break someday, I am constantly on the lookout for a suitable replacement. Whenever I test them, though, I always think the tines are too thick (and therefore won't mold into the curved bottom of a bowl) or too thin (and bend in a thick batter). I look forward to giving the Good Grips whisk a try.

While I'm here, I'll also mention that it drives me crazy when TV cooks use a wooden spoon to stir something in a pot...a whisk is the right tool for the job!

My tollhouse cookies are second to none and I follow the recipe exactly. My three suggestions are: (1) Don't skip the salt...it's ESSENTIAL, (2) Use a light, insulated baking sheet and (3) take them out early and I mean VERY early.

I can't remember who did this "study" (Cook's Illustrated? ATK?)...but the point was that there's no need to cook with expensive wine. The subtleties that change a cheap/OK wine into a great wine are completely lost in the cooking process and the flavor components that wine enhances with cooking stick around.
