I think you'll be surprised at Vanilla Ice. He came second in a reality TV show here in the UK called The Farm. From memory he was really good at ploughing! Go figure!

80 (do I get dispensation for not coming from the US?)...... From my understanding of basements in the UK - they were used for bits of the house that the owners did not want to see (i.e.the kitchen, where the staff of the house could congregate, coal storage, or both) The basements of these houses now (particularly in London) are being converted into all sorts of things and can be fantastic spaces.

Zuza I hae the same problem - Plug your crock pot into a http://www.target.com/p/westek-indoor-programmable-time. I use something similar. Set it to the time you want it to start (i.e. your home time minus 9 hours). Works really well and I feel all organised when I have something cooked already when I get home.

Some good suggestions throughout the posts.

Personally I have a "pile" of papers that I know exactly what is in there - usually bills, I stack them there until the month end and then take a look.

Also, does anyone have a "drawer" drawer?? Usually in the kitchen, where we keep scissors, sticking tape, batteries (including the "dead"ones - why?), phone charger, tape measure, nail scissors, nail file, pens, pencils. I think there maybe one half of a set of earrings...... etc. Generally any old toot..... If my other half asks for some, I usually say that it's in the "drawer" drawer.

This is a pretty standard size for the UK - value looks amazingly cheap compared to UK house prices - my 400sqft apartment - equivalent to US$265,000 - so I'd take this little house anyday....

Here in the UK we are used to small spaces - take a look at the property for sale on this site - it's studios in London - http://www.panpeninsula.com/apartments/studio
They have a fab way of stacking the dish drawer, oven and microwave

Hi from the UK

Don't know if you get this store in the USA, but we have store here in the UK called Cath Kidston. She does loads of 1950's style fabrics, linens etc.

Take a look at http://www.cathkidston.co.uk

They may deliver internationally.

p.s. I actually quite like the bathroom - makes a change from the clinical looking white version.
