I would just leave it. I don't see the problem. A curtain is just tacky. I like it how it is.

My parents always and still use top sheets. As small children, my sister and I were restless sleepers and we complained until our mother agreed we could remove them. Nearly 20 years later, we still don't use top sheets. If I'm a guest, I sleep on top of the top sheet.

What ultimately determines the cost of a painting is what a patron is willing to pay for it. Of course there is the non-monetary value of a painting as well.

Toilet paper is not hygienic. Many people in the world wash with water or water and soap after "using the restroom." There are three solutions with that in mind: install a bidet, attach a bidet sprayer to your toilet (looks like the hose attached to your kitchen sink), or use a cup of water or a $3 peri/lavette/irrigation bottle). The water used to wash oneself is minimal and once you switch to washing, I swear you'll never want to use tp again.

"Authenticity" should not be a status symbol, it should be about consuming less because either it is a quality-product that should last longer and not be replaced frequently, or it is the reuse of something old, i.e. repurposed/upcycled or vintage. If people ultimately buy so-called "authentic" products for reasons other than that, then yes, it becomes shallow and trendy. Also, in the world of disposables, the counterpart is "authentic." It's no wonder that people want something of substance in our rapidly-changing and disposable world, but step back for a moment and realize that no matter if cheap and disposable or classic and authentic, these are just things--nothing more.
