The texturing on our walls is my least favorite thing about our house. It's different in almost every room! We experimented with a variety paints and found that Sherwin Williams Cashmere in very light colors does the best job of downplaying the uneven, sloppy texturing. It has a creamy finish that seems to soften the edges of the texturing and make it less noticeable. Unfortunately, all of the darker colors that we loved magnified the ugliness of the walls even in Cashmere.

The pull out shelf is genius! I'm always frantically looking for a place to set a hot dish when my limited counter space is covered in cutting boards and mixing bowls.

This is my favorite before & after in a long time. I love that she took the time to sand it down to the beautiful natural wood--which looks perfect with the print.

I completely agree. There are so many other sites that people can use to read about and discuss health and nutrition issues.

To me, The Kitchn is more about the enjoyment of life in the kitchen--the people we have over, the things we make and eat, the tools we use, etc.

My SO's family rented in Alamo Heights for a few years. It was a nice 50's 3/2, but probably near the top end of your price range. It's a really pretty neighborhood and a lot of the houses have bigger lots that would be great for pets.

This is my favorite house tour so far this year. It's a great balance between collecting and leaving room to breathe. I think the plants go a long way toward creating an airy, homey space.

I think Roselle made a great point, so I probably shouldn't even bother to argue it any further. To me, the first and last are "art", while the others lean more toward "craft". Nothing wrong with craft--why insist on calling it art?

I also think it's a little funny that the people calling out the artists for having strong opinions seem just as defensive (or more so) of their own ideas of what these things definitively are or aren't.

It's obvious that this is a kitchen used for cooking! Always the best kind of kitchen! I love that it's well organized, but without every little thing being hidden away in a cabinet.

Great post! Even the rooms that I don't particularly like have interesting tile elements.
