I've tackled the same ceiling painting issue throughout my home. My 1964 modern tract home originally was built with painted open beam ceilings in a sort of peanut-butter color that I've refreshed in a similar, lighter tone and looks great with my modern decor (most neighbors hired crews to spray theirs "cottagy white"). That being said I did repaint the ceilings myself and will say that painting the beams and ceiling boards was very tedious. The max peak height in my home is roughly 15' and I'd say that is my LIMIT before calling in a contractor. Good luck!

Graceful and light, yet so impactful.
I'm wondering, how does this chair hold up to use ( 'larger' individuals weight) or is this potentially only an issue for repro's?

Absolutely love the blue-black, but the Emerald is just not a color I can live with in any qualtity. The Aloe is too neutral-gray of a mint to appeal to me either; I'd much prefer either a celadon or jadite color.

Hooray, Peacock! Can I PLEASE forget about "Emerald" now?

Love the curtains, lighting, white color of the table and bright feel.
To my eyes, however, the space looks more confined than before.

My halogen bulb undercabinet lights I installed a few years ago do get burning hot but they have ventilation slots so I don't worry too much...I'd avoid them with small children however.

Someone once recommended "Do it Now" very enthusiatically. While I too often can't bring myself to it, I will admit that I NEVER REGRET when I do manage to do it right "now".

I'd have preferred a solid color paint like a buttery yellow. Then again I hate wallpaper.

It seems obvious that the preference of public vs private transportation depends upon the area you live in and the availability of safe, clean, convenient fast public transit.
However I can't picture how to carry home a load of materials from Home Depot to start a project immediately on one of my frequent runs there, or multiple bags of groceries either.

And like the 'mood ring' I had eons ago, soon enough this will become a muddy black static reminder of what it was when it used to work. Whatever.

Thermochromic Table:
Cool? Fun? Potentially Awkward?

This is so true and amazingly applicable today for me...I left a "basic" chain restaurant this evening where the overworked server made a big blunder with my service...for some inexplicable reason I decided to leave him a few extra bucks over a normal tip anyway since I'm a semi-regular and I felt it wasn't that big a deal as he was making it... I saw him clear the table and hold up the larger-than-expected bill, pausing almost in astonishment, then run up to me at the cashier with a big relieved smile and a "thanks so very much again!"...The good feelings I'm experiencing made this decision probably the best few dollars I've spent in a long time.

Oh ...that foyer. The green and polka dots.
There's an original, enduring, classic look that won't date itself.

She's done everything right to make the absolute most of this space. Especially putting a fairly sizeable sectional sofa in a small spot, as I've learned from my tiny den-alcove, can make a welcoming, functional area that lives large. A unified style with great detail that belies its 650 feet really "transforms" this space.

Have already started to notice some people wearing jackets and outerwear in the new Pantone Green.
Um... can hardly wait for next year's color.

I love that I can enjoy my unknown Mid Century items for their fun design, equally to my "iconic" pieces. Enjoy this one!

Emily, I so agree with the idea presented here. Being a slave to the Color-of-Moment Syndrome never really helped me create an atmosphere I loved for anything more than a short time. Wardrobe didn't provide insight for me either so recently I took inspiration from my beloved set of Mid Century dishware to create the palette for my home. I've never grown tired of the results.
