I LOVE it the way it is too - up against a deep blue/gray wall, this would be a beautiful architectural piece. And instead of breaking it apart, I would be inclined to take the top piece and off-set it from center - so interesting! Good Questions: How Can I Restore this Piece of Furniture? |

i love elsewares - they also have little votive holders made from recycled bike parts. they're irreverent yet classic, and my mother (my MOTHER!!) uses them on her screened-in porch in texas. best christmas gift ever. Recycled Bicycle Chain Bowl |

In most railroad apartments, interior rooms only have a window that opens into another room with a window - and this is how you get around the "no windows" problem. Also, there are likely two doors, allowing for two different means of escape. If her room has no windows and only doors, I'm not really sure what the law is here... but I can tell you that not all interior rooms without windows to the OUTSIDE are in violation.
