What an interesting take on the good ole scone! Being British, i enjoy my scones VERY much. Generally we opt for the sweet ones made with raisins or sultanas. If we opt for a savoury one it is always done with cheddar cheese. Both ARE great and tasty and are always best served warm, not long after they've been cooked. I'm really interested in giving this new slant on the scone recipe a try but I suppose I have to work out which flour to use. We use either plain or self raising flour! Thanks though for the inspiration. Party Recipe: Savory Scones with Goat Cheese & Sun-Dried Tomatoes Recipes from The Kitchn |

I have rented various properties through my single life and i have to say the worst was when I rented a house with 5 friends. It seemed a good idea at the time but i made the mistake of not asking enough questions generally about the place. It used to rain into our footwell at the bottom of the stairs as there was a 6" gap at the bottom of the back door. One of the rooms rented out was the old wash house and the poor girl who lived in their ended up in hospital because it was so damp. Our landlord was a russian lady who was resided in Florida and whilst over their we had to use her friend as a stand in Landlord who turned out had mental health issues and everytime we had to deal with this chap we had to get him to sign documented evidence of what was said at each tenant review/meeting so that he couldnt go back on his word and the worst part of all was one day the electric fuses blew through the entire house. I was away at the time on work experience from uni, it turned out our wiring had been wired entirely to the earth and through to the off license next door. Don't ask me how they managed that one but apparently the fire brigade/ british gas said that the wiring was so bad that if we had of had gas present in the house for heating/cooking, When the fuses blew, it would have blown the house and half of the street up with it!! Again i find it funny that a room that is 8.5ft by 13ft is classed as tiny!! Obviously our houses here in the UK ARE TINY!! My son's bedroom which is 9ft square is TINY!! we can't even fit both of our boys beds in the same room. So having an office room like this would be pure luxury however not one to poo poo someones else's hard work. It does look fabulous!! So well done to Christina. :D Before & After: Christina's Tiny Bedroom to Bright Office Plus Guest Room |

This post is really interesting! I am having to be frugal with what i buy due to being made redundant last year and the job market so far evading me(!!! frustrating!!) but I am like a magpie. I long for new shiny things especially for my home and kids! Since not being in a position to buy things like i used to. It's given me time to give my spending more thought! For instance, I have a terrible magazine habit...I LOVE interior mags....sigh! I positively drool when i see the latest issues out. So having had to recently do an expenditure sheet, i was shocked to see i was spending around £20 a month on magazines. I have a toy chest full of them. Two book cases getting heavier with the weight of magazines (and books!). So my answer to being more frugal and mindful. I took out a magazine subscription to two of my favourite mags. The cost is minimal compared to my monthly spend and over this next year, I will probably save myself £200....yikes!! Which could be put to actually buying an investment piece of furniture that i've been oggling from the magazines. Currently we are waiting to hear if we are going to be moving house and i'm desperate to have a home i can be proud of. My current home is cluttered and drives me crazy. So i'm going to take these tips in this article and really try to be more frugal and save for the home i really desire for my family and me! Have you thought about getting some fabric and either making or having made a cushion or two and tie backs in a fabric that complements both grey curtains and sofa? That way you are linking both together but without them "matching" perfectly. Often using a contrasting shade that ties both in can work wonders and costs very little. If money is tight it's also worth checking out second hand stores for fabrics that can be recycled. For instance, I recently bought a cushion which cost a lot for my current income (or lack of!!) and it has a beautiful felt 3D flower on it. I then went to my local charity shop and found a jumper in almost the same colour as the flower and i am now in the process of making a new cover for another cushion to go on my other sofa so they compliment each other! Just a thought. Happy hunting! Your Biggest & Smallest Living Room Problems?? 2013 Reader Forum |

beautiful flat but can we see it once the kid has been born and then grown and trashed it a little like most peoples homes whom have children perhaps? I'd love to see how they deal artistically with all the paraphernalia that wee ones bring!! Just a thought! otherwise i'm a little bit jealous that my home isn't this beautiful...ho hum!
