Grew up in Canada so always had a duvet. Never understood in American hotels why the bedding was so thin and weird - always thought it was a budget thing since it was so uncomfortable. Then I moved to the U.S. and saw that people had that same type of bedding (flat sheet) in their homes! I don't understand how people can sleep like that! But to each their own, I guess. I always found it so strange when Americans referred to casual cutlery - even PLASTIC cutlery as "silverware"! It confused me the first few times someone said "I'll go get the silverware" and then brought back plastic forks and knives. (I was expecting actual fancy silverware!) I love this apartment! I love a space that's organized, geometric and colorful. The rug, the sofa, the dining set - all gorgeous! And the shoe organization in the closet mirrors my own. Love the white & the glossiness - and I think the brown glossy kitchen cabinets are a unique touch. "Homey" to me is much too often synonymous with "dowdy". Give me salon-esque or boutiquey anyday! I love the sleekness of this space. And as for criticizing this couple for including photos of their pet dog - where does that hostility come from? When you have a pet dog you love and think is cute, you'd like to include him/her in photos - that's it. I enjoyed seeing the dog and his little pet bed next to theirs. Adorable! These are great puppy preparation tips, especially giving them their own area - that is key and eliminates most of the typical puppy problems. We gated off the hallway which has hardwood floor and nothing dangerous (like wires) - everything our puppies need is there and we never have to worry about accidents ruining anything. Every time I see a room that is totally ME and MY STYLE on Unpluggd/Apartment Therapy, whoever has posted it has put some label on it that says "MAN". What is this, the Dark Ages? Medieval times? Is having a job or wearing pants a "man thing" too??? When are these sexist posters going to realize that women are just as obsessed with awesome, high quality, innovative electronics/media and the display/arrangement of it as men are??? Notice half the comments are always from women who love it and are put off by the suggestion that we're not supposed to by the "man" label. Enough already!!! I love this gorgeous place! I love modern, clean spaces where everything is "hidden" - so efficient and compact. One of my personal goals is always to have my home resemble something that is NOT a "home" - it's so much more fun. I hate "homey". I like a place that resembles a spaceship, rock club, etc. - kind of like when Kramer on Seinfeld found the old Merv Griffin set and moved it into his apartment (where he was then inspired to start interviewing people). So, I love the white sofas here that make the apartment seem like a lounge. Bravo! (My place looks like a recording studio and I like it that way!) But then I'm a girl who is far more into brick, metal, glass, plastic than textiles or fabric.
