I love the shower niche, just be careful you make them large enough... The previous homeowners had built them into our current master bath and guest bath shower tubs. The master's niche is a perfect size but the guest's is too small for even standard size bottles. It's so frustrating - avoid that design mistake! Shower Niches Between the Studs |

Great suggestions! I have another good tip: get a pet! Besides being wonderful companionship on their own (they're great listeners), a pet such as a dog can be a great icebreaker to meet neighbors or people at a dog park. Some really great advice! We're trying to embrace a "lived in" house: at a party my husband and I hosted, a girl's uncapped stiletto dented our hardwoods like a woodpecker gone wild. We didn't tell the girl, and my hubs and I just laughed it off and view it as added distressing and charm. It was worth the fun night with friends.
