We're hosting first meeting of the year for our community garden on Friday night. There maybe snow on the ground here in Michigan, but we can plan for the coming spring! Making veggie bean and Texas meat chilis, others bringing snacks, corn muffins and cookies.

Not all the cleaning chores got done - but I did pull the nasty wet caulk out of shower and will put new in this afternoon. Thank you so much for January Cure - knowing the group was out there and the task assignments really helped me get over my fear of DIY.

Day 22: Shop for the Get Together Goodies Apartment Therapy January Cure

Just sent an email to a friend who tutors at an elementary school, to see if she could use the BOXES of kids books that my husband and I have in our basement.

There are also boxes of CDs and VHS tapes that have not been opened since they were packed in 2009. I know my husband, who taped TV episodes back in the days before DVR, is going to have some trouble letting those go. And I admit, the commercials from 5 - 10 years ago already are funny to watch. But they don't need to take up so much space in the basement. Ideas for how to recycle VHS? Thank you!

Day 12: Declutter Books & Media Apartment Therapy January Cure

Hooray for the January Cure! Today I finally cleaned the appliances replaced A YEAR AGO when we put in an IKEA kitchen. They have been living in the garage, making it impossible to have 2 cars out of the snow. Took photos and will list them on Craigslist tomorrow. I'm going to save deep cleaning the kitchen to a later day - with temps over 50 degrees and sun, it was perfect day to work in the garage.

Day 8: Weekend Chores - Flowers, Kitchen Cleaning & Make Yourself a Meal Apartment Therapy January Cure

A bit late, but am going to commit to finally cleaning, listing and selling the appliances we took out when we renovated the kitchen - a year ago! Also going to re-caulk the shower stall, which is only getting worse. Other un-cluttering will likely happen as the month goes on. Bonus - dh found Groupon to print photos on aluminum, we are going to put up 3.

My box has clothes for Goodwill, going tomorrow when the car gets its oil changed.

BTW, the link above to "10 Things We Should Have Gotten Rid of a Long Time Ago" does not take you there, but to the "What's in Your Outbox" post. Hope you can fix it - I'd love to know what I should have gotten rid of!

Day 2: Set Up Your Outbox Apartment Therapy January Cure
1/3/13 2:05 PM

My husband & I bought our first house 18 months ago. We first gut-renovated the kitchen and have done a number of fixes/updates in almost every room. It's looking pretty good! However, I still feel stressed thinking about the homeless items laying about. I work at home and don't need that stress when I walk out of my office. Thank you for the January Cure! Here's my list -

General
- Iron, then take clothes to consignment shops to sell (find out what each shop takes)
- Take photos, look up specs and list appliances & electronics to sell (ebay, Craigslist, Amazon?)

My office
- Sort and file health insurance paperwork
- Re-organize lucite shelf unit
- Create home for job search papers/books
- Print photos to hang

Bedroom
- Re-organize top of dresser

Living Room
- Re-organize gaming cabinet
- Organize gardening information, prepare for next season
- Dust and wash/deep clean wooden and glass furniture, leather couches

Entryway & closet
- Find home for gloves, scarves, hats

Bath
- Deep clean glass shower stall (soap scum on glass) and re-caulk the stall?

Kitchen
- Clean top of kitchen cabinets and lay down wax paper so less to clean next time!
- Sort and re-organize junk drawers
- Re-organize appliance storage in pantry

Basement
- VERY SCARY - sort what to keep, sell, donate
- Sort and find homes for outdoor gear
