I would definitely focus that money on the appliances- a gas stove with a vented hood and a new refrigerator. The other things are cosmetic that you can do yourself!

The first three are just rude! I wish people had more common sense. Also, you should make a list of things not to do in restaurants, even though it has nothing to do with home decor. People need to know!

I like option 1, I agree that the second option seems more open, but the first option makes the best use of the space. In the first you have a little desk area with a window seat, and in the second the space in the upper right hand area seems unusable. Good luck, either way it looks like a very cute little house!

Thanks Rebekkap, I was thinking about making that for my bf, cuz he get's REALLY nasty burns at work, but it seemed intuitively bad to put balm on an open wound...

Julie Bug, I make a similar powedered detergent with Fels Naptha, Borax, and Super Washing Soda, but I would love to make a liquid one! The one time I tried using grated Fels Naptha in hot water as a gentle clothing cleanser, it didn't dissolve and left yellow bits of soap stuck to all of my tights! Does the Zote brand dissolve better? And how much of the ingredients do you use for a 7 gallon bucket? Thanks!!!

These etiquette posts always make me giggle. I guess my friends and I are very loose with each other. I would never care if someone got drunk, let alone quarantine them to a room so they don't embarrass themselves!

However, the unexpected guest at a sit down dinner is truly a pain in the ass. The whole reason my gatherings are so comfortable is because I only invite people I *want* there! Plus, I only have 8 place settings!

I think it's cute too! I like someone's previous idea of wrapping the posts with wood and painting them white, I think it would pop more against the stone, and bring the white from the siding down a bit. Give the grass some love and you've got a great little house!

e53- I used to draw floorplans too!! And I didn't just leave it at my room; I would be bored while babysitting (the kids were asleep) and I would muse about how you could really maximize the space in their house by knocking out a closet and expanding the bathroom, etc. The parents were probably kind of weirded out by coming home to my crude blueprints. They should have splurged for cable!

When Did You Start Caring About Decor?

P.S this room is dying for color! The warm tones of the floor and the beige walls need something to contrast them! Maybe a pretty jewel green sofa or a colorful piece of art or curtains

No one seems to be addressing where to put the table... I imagine you need to keep it in there? If so, I would relocate it to over near the breakfast bar, and then either float a (new, less bulky) sofa with a console along the back in the middle of the room facing the tv, provided there is enough room. That would separate the eating and hanging out areas. Other wise I would put the couch on the wall where the tv is now, and use a nice media console with two chairs flanking it and facing the couch to separate off the area that way...

I agree with leapkate! During the day I am 100% rational and don't believe in ghosts. However, at 3 in the morning when my dog starts barking and my closet door opens by itself, I am 100% convinced I have a ghost.

niesiepie may be correct that this isn't a "daunting task", but I think that's what the cure is about! Fixing a bunch of little things that drive you crazy but you haven't gotten around to fixing! The whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. All I'm doing in my bathroom is replacing the bath rug and organizing the closet but it makes my happy!

I think yellow would be too matchy-matchy, as you suggested. I would use a nice rich green to pull out the green from your art and your plant and compliment the wood tones.

I have never looked at the comments on home tours before, but it seems really rude to make nasty comments about someone's home that they clearly have put a lot of love into. If it isn't your thing, I think the Thumper rule should be invoked- if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all! I think it is a nice home that is kid friendly without looking juvenile.
