My brother trained his older dog to stay off the couch when he wasn't home by laying his kitchen chairs on the couch. It was kind of a pain but it worked. Eventually the dog gave up his interest in the couch.

I really dislike the tv hung over any fireplace. It's uncomfortable to watch and looks dreadful. Interested to see whether this meets building codes.

Always have and always will. So does my mom. Saves the manicure, keeps my hands from drying out and lets me use the hottest water possible. Also I find that I have better grip when wearing gloves than when not.

KristenWI - I just moved cross country with two cats. I opted for a Petego tube rather than crates. I had disposable litter boxes and stopped for water breaks. Once they settled into the rhythm of the car, they were fine. I fed them each night in our hotel rooms. I found that they did not eat much during the trip, didn't want the litter box until we stopped for the night and took a few days to settle in after the move. My vet recommended one of those calming sprays like Feliway. I also got the diffuser version which I'd plug into an outlet in our hotel room.
P.S. my cats were also opinionated about what to listen to and preferred the radio over our conversations!
