Such a sweet room! I'm working on my own son's nursery and has a similar theme and color story. His name will be Beckett and I also bought the same ottoman on clearance from Target too! And bought a rug from Overstock.

Callimac suggested exactly what I wanted to recommend. I have a tall dresser that I painted the body white and stained just the drawer fronts, see it here. It's really versatile this way and can fit in your decor for a long time.

Oh, whoah, hi! The room was SO dreadful before, and I'm positive I painted until my fingers bled.

D D, the light is from Overstock. They still have it here.

Chesterandtrudy, Haha I once got a lot of flack in some comments about the bowl being "hazardous" and hoped no one got hurt. It's actually an antique silver bowl and sits on my kitchen counter now. You can now sleep soundly tonight.

Here is the armoire makeover.

The Color Cure

Painting is one of the best ways to change the look and feel of a room, but it's so easy to get burnt out fast.

That happened to me when I was repainting my office. I just wanted simple two-coat paint job on the walls and a design on the ceiling. It turned into a month's work doing it all by myself. It took more coats of paint than I wanted, of course, the ceiling more difficult than I thought, discovered the old trim would NOT work with the new color... OR the doors. Talk about a can of worms. You can see what I did here and here. I eventually did finish! Seeing the final outcome is usually reward enough for me.

I've done the exact same thing! I got a large frame from a garage sale for $1. The "art" was a joke and I'm pretty sure not an original piece. I got rid of it and cut a piece of plywood to size and painted that to be the chalkboard. You can see it in the last photo here. I don't have a before photo, but just picture ugly.

I did something similar to an outdoor table this summer, it's held up well so far! I don't have any cats though, so I'm sure that helps.

I love this bookcase from overstock.
It's slightly over $400, but sometimes you can find coupons to bring it down a bit.

The weather is incredibly destructive. So are the dogs. I put some up last summer and it was nice while it lasted. But I love, love, love the look of it and am doing it again this summer. For me, its best not to leave the curtains up all the time, but hang them when guests come over or just for enjoying on the weekend. It sounds like a lot of work but only takes about 10 minutes to hang back up.

I have two that are hanging in my bathroom for jewelry organization. I love the contrast of the shiny and glitzy against the rough, grayed wood.

Mail, purses, guitars, shoes, magazines, trash, shoes, more shoes so the dogs don't chew them up, and anything else I happen to have in my hands when I come through the door.
But if I happen to be blogging about it, just a table runner and candles.

What Do You Keep on Your Kitchen Table?

I've never buy in sets because I like more bath towels than I do hand towels and washcloth. I usually buy the Vera Wang towels at Kohl's because they have the bath sheets which I love and they almost always go on sale. I probably paid about $20 or less on each bath sheet so maybe to a whole set was less than $40.

I need them to go on sale again soon because towels are like sock in my house, they just disappear.
