We also have a really cramped entrance, no entry way closet and four people in our house. We utlilized the wall at the entrance behind the door and put in a four-tiered shoe rack (one for each person - if more shoes accumulate than fit, we weed out and put some shoes that are not used as often back in the closet) and got a bunch of hooks and hanging pockets that are at kid and adult level for coats.
