'But sometimes it's helpful to see that not every "after" was accomplished overnight with unlimited funds. And furthermore, not every "after" is a "forever after." As the needs of our families change, so will our homes, but that doesn't have to mean starting from scratch with each change.'

Bingo. I really appreciate being let into the process of these posts. We see so many magical transformations in magazines and on shows but we don't always see the setbacks and challenges on a realistic timeline or budget. And it's in those setbacks and challenges that we can learn to be really creative and thoughtful. Learning how others deal with those obstacles is motivating and inspiring. :)

If my phone goes down between upgrades I go to craigslists. Everyone is always selling their old phones when they themselves upgrade. Bonus, you meet up and try out the phone before buying. Also, what doesn't skype do that all those additional services/ apps can? Doesn't skype both text and call landlines/ cells? Just curious.

Your statement about your kids not having to wear someones 'leftovers' is pretty snooty sounding Nisiepie. Quite often you can get higher quality clothes by buying well made used clothes versus disposable clothes through chain stores that will tear and fall apart quickly.

Clothes are clothes and the fact that a single pair of quality kids jeans could serve multiple children through reselling not only helps the environment but it also helps families save money. A 2 yr old doesn't care if his clothes have never been worn. He's quite possibly going to pee or poop in them at some point.

I assume you don't pity the children who will have to wear YOUR children's 'leftovers' through the clothes you sell by consignment?

Lovely! I agree with those who suggested lighter cabinets though. Would have looked even more airy and spacious. But the dark wood does give it a depth and richness. Guess it depends on what you are going for! :)

Absolutely search craigslist. You never know what you will find and you can always bargain. Up-cycle! Especially with leather products. :-)
