My cat goes for the flowers too so I never buy them for my self. But I did for the Cure :-) I have a typical apt. main room that is kitchen, dining and living room/salon. I have the flowers in a gorgeous vase a friend made for me on the top of my fridge and I can enjoy them from anywhere in my main public space. For New York City I recommend The Furniture Joint. I doubt it's the cheapest but Matthew Haley and his team are wonderful. They have reupholstered a few mid-century pieces for me and some other era/style pieces for friends of mine. Case Studies of Real Life Upholstery Jobs: What Do People Really Pay? |

I really like all of the different looks that can be achieved with color blocking. I have a lot of wood furniture so I've done it with a large rectangle on a wall. It provides color and defines a space a bit. I had it on one wall of my dining area which was the same room as my living room/salon. Examples of Color Blocking in Decor |

I love the red and all of the color in the room. While I seem to be in the minority I would take away the shelves there. With all of the color and other wonderful details in the room I think it will be too busy with books. I would keep the red and either take away the trapezoid or paint that the same red. The walls could hold a couple of art works or colorful plates or something that leaves some wall exposed. I would also move the TV to the other side which looks to have a corner so it could be angled and one wouldn't have the glare issue. The "attic" space above doesn't bother me at all. I like it and would leave it. Hivemind Designer: What Would You Do With This Wall? |
