@criswil - Many thanks for the compliments! We used Harwell Fencing & Gates (http://lacw.us/fences.html). They were easy to work with, listened to our design input, were neat and tidy and crafted a sturdy, well-constructed final product. Good luck with your project!

@wormy - Thanks for the kind words! The entry pendant lamp came from a shop here in LA called Zipper. Sadly, the shop is now closed. I've had the piece for over a decade so I don't have any of the original packaging, etc. that would tell us the manufacturer. Sorry!

@edmarch - Thanks for the compliments. We've been tossing around doing a custom-something with the fireplace. Might be removing the stone work that's currently there and replacing it with floor-to-ceiling Heath ceramic tiles with a floating live slab as a mantle. As for the white leather ottoman in the living room; it's great because it's soft and cushy, has a flip-top for storage and is on casters for easily moving it about. We have, in storage, a lovely rectangular glass top table that was the "right" piece for the space. Fear not, once it's no longer such a liability to a toddler, we will reintroduce it to the room!

@SnowdogMaine - Like your idea of plastering over the existing facade. We have considered doing just that and installing Heath ceramic tiles floor to ceiling with a floating shelf as a mantle. The "upholstered bench" is actually two custom upholstered square floor cushions that we throw about for watching television or or additional seating when guests are over. At the moment, we don't have a more appropriate (remember, we are space challenged in a 1200 sq ft home) place for them. Plus, they pull double duty as added protection for a toddler and an open hearth fireplace.
