I think a light sky or robin's egg blue would look fantastic and contrast nicely with the red in the rug. How To Use Bold Colors with Dark Brown (Almost Black) Couch? Good Questions |

Perhaps you could try layering the guides or pads to mitigate the uneven surface and prop up the particular chair legs the rock. The legs themselves won't be even but they will be even relative to the floor. This trick doesn't work very well if you need to move the chairs around from room to room but it should help if they stay in the same spot (i.e. around your kitchen table). I think kitchy kitchens are ready to make a comeback. Not necessarily avocado or burnt orange appliances but a more humanistic look (for example embracing architectural quirks, repurposed existing elements in remodels, more color, more wood) and a movement away from the pristine and slick but perhaps sterile stainless steel and stone aesthetic. Instead of hanging something like a quilt or branches (which are also good suggestions) why not try painting a mural? It could even be something very simple like a stenciled pattern to, well, whatever sort of scene you can dream up. Or maybe a wallpapered accent wall behind the bed. I would get to cleaning it up and sanding it down a bit first to get a better idea of what kind of condition the wood is in before committing to staining it. If the wood is in good shape, I love the wood top and painted body idea. If the wood doesn't look so hot go ahead and paint it black. I recently painted a small vanity I've had for a while a high gloss black and it's quite glamorous. How To Spruce Up Craigslist Vanity? Good Questions |

I agree; definitely go for painting the cabinets white. As far as the wall color goes, I would consider painting them white as well. I did something similar in my kitchen painting the cabinets pure white and the walls a slightly different but coordinating shade of white (Benjamin Moore Distant Gray to be specific which is this very pretty, barely - there cool, grayish white) and the effect is very nice. The cabinets sort of recede into the space making the kitchen look calm and cohesive while the contrast between the shades of white is just enough to keep the room from looking flat. If you want to bring more color into the space maybe consider colorful hardware instead or adding some colorful accessories and/or art? Updates for Country Kitchen on a Limited Budget?
