I love my reel mower. I can't stand the noise and smell of other mowers, and hate that when I open my windows on a nice day, I invariably hear someone in the neighborhood mowing, leaf blowing or using a weed whacker. I agree that it doesn't cut the tall prairie like grasses well, but it's easy to pull those out and throw them in my compost. My goal is to not have those growing in my yard eventually anyway. Most of my backyard is clover, and when I cut with the reel mower in the spring, the white flower heads popping out from the mower and the clicking sound makes me feel like one of those kids with their pop-pop push toys! CLEAN YOUR CAT BOXES. Seriously! I have 3 cats in a not huge house (1275 sqft) and my house does not smell like a cat box, and I do not mask bad smells with more of what I would consider also bad smells-- Febreeze and other phthalates that will only up your risk of cancer anyway. I am no more tolerant of cat box smell than anyone else in the world, and am thoroughly disgusted when I walk into a house that reeks of cat box. Love it! Maybe when I add my second story to my home with my loads of money.... :) I like the staircases integrated with bookcases, especially the first one which is just too lovely. I think I would always opt for the handrail, though. 10 Stylish (& Slightly Scary) Floating Staircases |

ArabellaJ-- you realize that in addition to the designer commission and cost of materials and machines, that Spoonflower actually have employees that deserve to make a living wage as well? I actually doubt very much that they are making a killing in profits producing small batches of custom fabrics. Durham is a city very much in need of revitalization, and I wish people would put their money where their mouth is when it comes to making purchasing decisions. We have labor laws because of long fought and continuing battles over the treatment of American workers, so what do we do? I have two french presses-- one for tea, one for coffee. Even though the only plastic part is the very top of the press where the liquid exits, coffee flavor invariably ruins tea. I like the idea of multi-use items but there are necessary exceptions-- having to do a multi-day baking soda paste soak to get the coffee flavor (or mussels flavor-- *shudder*) out to make tea is not worth it. The press still takes up less room than a full blown coffe pot. 5 More Uses For Your French Press! |
