This is definitely the other side of Mid-Century Modern. I'm not sure what to think. At the least I applaud and deeply respect your undertaking. On the other hand, I can't help but think we are 5 years away from seeing an 80s decor resurgence. Not Memphis style or black lacquer, but Lazy-boys and wicker dressers.

Hooray for something different! All that's missing are some golden yellow appliances.

While I too am a little tired of the MCM interiors featured on AT, I must admit I feel a little differently about this tour. It not only has to do with the home, but even more the choice of MCM pieces. I appreciate how this house tour doesn't look like they went down a checklist of MCM pieces to acquire for validation. Don't get me wrong, early MCM (Bauhaus) is my favorite design period, but not a fan of seeing Eames Rockers with crocheted granny pillows on then.

Kind of reminds me when I recently went to the market and the guy in front of me brought his own canvas bags, but filled 1/2 of them with bottled water. We were both looking at each other with contempt, because neither one of us fit the other's definition of "Green".

Reminds me of Aunt Edna's place in New Jersey. Nothing cutting edge or ground breaking, but good taste.

Looks like you've lived there for 20 yrs... In a good way.

It takes a lot of work to make it look like you don't care. This is the only House Tour I've looked at more then 2x.

Genius!!!

I know I'm late to the party, but I can so relate to some of these great stories.

Technically my first is an inherited possible Saarinen Olive velvet Tulipesque lounge chair on a chrome base. My parents bought it at a boutique in Manhattan circa 1970. Didn't appreciate it until I later learned about design.

The first piece I personally purchased was a Noguchi Coffee Table (Black base). My wife "allowed" me to buy it as a 5 year anniversary gift. Go figure :-) It was my first furniture lust object and I had to have it in my home. I loved it's beautiful almost organic curves and the love affair is still strong 8 years later despite a few flings. I need to go take a cold shower now.

I would be forever grateful if anyone knows where to purchase prints outside of a gallery.

I have a clawfoot tub with shower and a curtain contraption that circles the tub. I've only taken a bath once in the last 4 years, but its nice to have anyway.
