We were quoted 5500 to asphalt ours (includes ripping out/disposal of old concrete, grading landscaping away from house, lining w/ pavers) and 7500 for concrete. Going w/ the asphalt.

I vote the pop-of-color route, since everything else is in the dark family. Might add a little unexpected lift. Maybe a really cheerful grass green in a high gloss finish.

Dark Stain or Colorful Paint for IKEA Norden Table? Good Questions

I got my honking cinderblock of a catalogue last week and just....ugh. Every page looks like stills from the commercial where the lady is so depressed she can't bring herself to walk her dog. Sad, gray light, beige furniture, and the occasional piece of wrought iron apparently sourced from a monastery estate sale. Who lives like this??
Blech. No thanks, RH.

Didn't love it at first but after clicking over to the blog and seeing more pictures I'm liking it more and more. The dark paint pops the claw feet a bit, and I love the little keyholes on the drawers. I'd likely have gone with a black stain rather than the blue, but I think if anything this plays up the bird's eye more than if she'd just left the whole thing one color.

I would tile the backsplash up the cabinets if you can match the existing tile- I've found the "half splash" like the one in the pictures to be super impractical for keeping messes off the paint and it always looks unfinished to me. Then I'd throw up some soft neutrals through out- until you've lived in a space for a bit and really gotten used to the light and what it does to your furniture picking any strong color can really go south. I personally use the bejesus out of BM's Halo.

So cute! Love that they are color coordinated so kids can help with the clean-up and learn their colors at the same time.
