So funny - it reminds me of my grandparents house. They bought a new house in 1971 and, like the good Italians they were, bought a new set of white velvet and carved wood couches and chairs. Plastic covers went on promptly, and when my grandma moved out 40 years later, that furniture was still in perfect condition. She got rid of the couch to move into a smaller apartment, but still has the chairs, still in plastic, still pristine after all these years ...

Three things:
1 - Three people (including one child) + one dog + one house built in 1927 with no closets on the main floor = clutter.
2 - Half of our wedding presents are still in their boxes in a corner of the dining room because we don't have a china cabinet.
3 - The worst of all, our only bathroom. Only 5x8, has the original cast iron tub that wasn't cleaned for years by a previous owner, two old-fashioned lights on hanging chains, only one works, and 1970s-era tiled floor, walls, and entire ceiling with a horrible combo of turquoise and speckled oatmeal cream tile.
