@Terry This particular style is not for me, but if someone is enabling comments, then does that mean only positive words are welcomed? Shouldn't all comments be allowed?

The color palette is great, imo. Less is more...

But not sure what it is about this home, but the photo with the vase and dead branches (?) seems to sum it up for me...

There is a kind of stark emptiness and deadness about the chosen items. It may be the antique quality or the dried up-ness of the aged wood/dead animals? Some of the shapes remind of bones, as well. Such as the vases in the kitchen area.

Sort of reminds me of a Georgia O'Keefe painting, but in neutrals.

their home seems to be an idea of what a home could be like, in theory... but doesn't really seem like one in the article or photos in practice... not very warm and nurturing... but maybe that's just not her style ?

and she kinda scares me...
way too controlling for my taste...

and her child kinda scares me...

"...every single thing he wore and then it went over to his food and other people, not me, but other people, began getting slightly disturbed about it."

really? when other people are feeling disturbed by your child's behavior, is that not considered a red flag? not even a small one?

...or, maybe the apple doesn't fall far from the tree...?

i actually don't mind having one of the parts standing in between the doorways.

in the second "before" photo, you can see that one-third of the bookcase fits nicely into that nook, with the lamp on top of it and the picture hanging overhead...

that would be my choice, if you want to keep the bookcase: keep one of them in the nook; separate the other two into different areas...

...maybe put one of the other "thirds" next to the couch as an end table?

just so we're on the same page... do you live in a mobile home, without many separate rooms? if that's the case, then all of the space is probably "shared" and therefore, there are probably no private spaces for your husband to keep his stuff, however he wants...

maybe oceandreamer56 has the right idea... try to get your husband to imagine what is really relevant and important to keep, and chuck out the rest...?

i remember moving and deciding if, god forbid, there was a fire, would i run back into the apartment to save it...? but that's an extreme example of deciding on what stays or goes...

best of luck !

i dunno...
maybe these pillows are supposed to show how society is "desensitized" to violence...

...and from reading the strong reactions/responses to this post, the answer to the artist's question seems to be, "yes"

...but maybe the responses actually disproves the artist's thinking: maybe society is not as desensitized as he thought...?
