Bedroom is too small, I think it would have to go in the living room. I'd put the flat screen on the living room wall to the right, put the couch facing the tv but beside the fireplace (so the fireplace is to your left if you're sitting on the couch) and then tuck a chair and little table + reading light into the bottom left corner by the window, behind the couch. I'm confused... you're renting so you can't scrape the ceiling, yet you think it would be OK with your landlord to paint it dark? If it were me I'd rather you just scrape it than pretty much permanently wrecking the ceiling with paint... unless of course you would be a good renter and paint it back before you left, with no damage done. I had them too. My lease says not to replace fixtures, but who's going to notice if you put them back up when you move? Unless they are somehow permanently affixed to the ceiling they are very easy to disassemble - the "nipple" part of the boob screws off (sorry), the glass piece will come off after it, and then there should be 2 screws within the piece attached to the ceiling. Once those are unscrewed the entire thing will come off, and you're left with a nice hole where you can put up a new fixture of your choosing! How To Improve Dome Light Fixture In Rental? Agree with bepsf, however don't really see the need to move the couch at all. It looks like there would be plenty of room to walk around the table on all sides if it were centered under the light, turned 90 degrees (so back of chair is facing doorway). Put down an rug in the couch area to visually separate the living area from the dining area, now already distinguished by the hanging light fixture above the table. Now you also have room for an end table or 2 beside the couch. How Can I Visually Separate the Dining Area? Good Questions |
