I don't love it either but, when we moved into a tiny '56 ranch last year, it was a choice between losing our wall of book shelves or hanging the TV. We refuse to lose the books! So, there it sits, above the fireplace. I would never give up function for aesthetics, particularly in a den. Sometimes, it is what it is!
- The overly dramatic statements of TV/Fireplace combo crack me up. THIS is the "worst, tackiest thing you've seen!" I seriously doubt that :)

Origin and history SHOULD change the way you feel about things. Really, it's what matters most in my opinion. ("Art" is a subjective issue anyway. I recently saw an instillation of wooden clothes pins stuck onto an old cardboard box.) Mass produced or not, if it moves you, it's worthy of your space.

I really like the peg legs I ordered from Uncle Bob's Workshop. They make my Karlstad look a bit more special. I ordered oak in medium brown and the total was $50.00 including shipping. Delivery took a while, but he let me know that via e-mail before taking my money. He's one guy in a home workshop as far as I can tell!
