I have had excellent luck with this GE model I got from Target (it appears to not be sold there anymore): http://www.amazon.com/GE-24703-Passive-Panel-Antenna/dp/B002HEUAMA

It has rabbit ear type telescoping antennae that pull out from the back to pick up weaker signals. I have noticed a difference in signals from the first to second floor of our apartment (first floor is technically a basement). It may take some finagling to get the best reception, and once I randomly lost a station, but it came back after a quick channel scan in the settings menu of the TV.

I'm in Astoria, so maybe there's some better signals floating around up there.

I'm in NYC, and I love our little antenna. We purchased it for around $20 and we will probably never pay for cable again. We get all the basic channels like ABC and NBC, and numerous others that I never would have known about. If only we could have a similar solution for Internet access we would never have to pay Time Warner ever again..

My favorite find when flipping through channels: Japanese game shows.

There is an iPhone/iPad app for cats. It's Game for Cats on iPad and Game for Kittens on iPhone (because the smaller screen - so cute!). It has two options for play, laser or mouse. My cat occasionally paws at the laser pointer version, I think she has some trouble with the contrast of the mouse on the background.

She wants nothing to do with my TV and computer, although the timer beeps on Top Chef would always grab her attention.
