We have a lovely cuckoo clock my in-laws brought over from Bavaria. It does chime on the quarter hour, but after a couple of days you don't even notice.

It's not a precious rug by any means, but my son has had an 'oriental' rug in his bedroom since he was six (he's now 10). I'm not one to re-do an entire room because a child has become a "big boy" or "big girl." I find the rooms just evolve on their own, over time and if the need arises for, say, a different rug and we've one that's not being used then it gets thrown in the mix. The same goes for furniture.

My mother in law makes the best egg and olive sandwiches....just your basic hard boiled egg "salad" - mix the chopped egg with mayo *AND* about a tablespoon or two (depending on the number of eggs) of sliced green olives (from a jar), and pepper to taste.

It's the only way I make egg salad sandwiches now.

Started this on Friday morning....just finished about 20 minutes ago and I've a rather small kitchen! I am exhausted an really the last thing I want to do is go BACK into the kitchen to cook. However, my mom invited herself over so I will.

I feel proud of all my hard work & the results are fabulous. I do wish contact paper wasn't such a pain in the *&%.

....LAUGHING......I have that dresser in the picture!! It was given to me by my neighbor who always checks first before putting old furniture out for people to just 'take.' It was her husband's when he was a little boy....

I'm cheap and can buy 75 photo cards @ Costco for twenty-five bucks. I don't plaster my kids on FB or any other site, so sending photo-cards are an easy way for the elderly relatives (many of whom don't even have computers) across the country to get a look at the kids. Every now and then, my husband and I make an appearance in one of the pictures, but, unlike our kids, our looks don't change so much year after year. I don't find photo-cards annoying at all....I enjoy receiving any thing in the mail that isn't a circular or a bill.

I'll be d*mned if I'm gonna spend any more than I do on something that will most likely get tossed in a couple weeks.
