a lot of the "hype" surrounding pour overs is simply a recognition that this old brew method is superior to the technological innovations that have come a long over the years. no one within the coffee industry is touting it as a "new" way to make coffee. although there are some newer pour over devices that have come out recently. i'd say it IS exciting to see pour overs regaining the attention they deserve.

I also suffered from painful skin irritation when using a homemade baking soda deodorant. After some research, I found that this is because baking soda has a a fairly high ph level and this can be very harsh for some people. I used the Schmidt's brand of natural deodorant with the same result. Now I shy away from anything with baking soda in it. The reason it causes irritation is because of the prolonged contact. This is why something like a baking soda bath doesn't have the same effect.
