Does anyone know if something like this would work for chopping leaves (on a concrete patio) to use for mulch and compost?

I bought some maple plate racks from the container store and they are perfect for our record collection. Each one has about 4 slots which fit 4-5 records, which makes organizing and rearranging them really easy. Perfect for converting any type of shelving for record storage. Also great for magazines.

This warms my heart. My husband and I just celebrated our 8th Anniversary. We were married in a New England barn. Nothing pretentious about it. These spaces all seem rustic and laid back. And they do glow.

I made something like this last week with strawberries from my garden - muddled strawberries, African Blue basil, a touch of sugar, and lime juice. Such a nice treat!

@EOWES, not at all! I'm in NYC and urban gardeners/farmers are everywhere. I work at a private gym where the owners, in thier 30s, installed a beautiful green wall, and maintaining it has been a community effort. Check it out!

Also, Brooklyn and Oakland are very similar, veggie gardens and chickens and all that.

I read the post and all of the comments and I still don't understand the question. What do you mean where are all the young gardeners? We're all over the internet homesteading, farming, canning, composting, collecting seeds, building hydroponic systems, and crafting raised beds out of reclaimed wood! We're growing our own hops and brewing our own beer. We have chickens! That's not gardening?

Maybe the real question is why are we not supporting the "gardening industry" and the answer is that we're finally figuring out that we don't need it.

Okay, but all of the windows pictured are also really tall! How about some photos of "normal" windows with high curatins for inspiration?

I had my wisdom teeth pulled last year and ate a lot of avocado soup: boil some chicken broth and remove from heat, add plain yogurt and mashed avocado, plus cilantro and lime if you like. Puree. You can make it as thick or thin as you like and it's delicious!

Ditto, fried rice!

Also, i make wonderful soup with leftover brown rice, shitake mushrooms, dashi, a touch of sake, and eggs. I usually make extra rice just so that I can make the soup the next day.

My husband was recently diagnosed with GERD literally right after stocking up on indian spices etc from Jackson Heights! Leaving out the chilis has helped, but he still seems to have problems with asofetida, that very pungent yellow spice that makes indian food taste indian. Also, you might rethink very buttery dishes. And if you make raita, use low-fat or non-fat yogurt. Too much fat can also be an irritant. Good luck!
