Thanks so much for this. I am about to get my own place after living with my GF (now ex) for 2 years, then moving home with mom to help her out. It was supposed to be 6 months, turned into 15 months. I look forward to decorating and that I will be living in a cool part of town (not that Phoenix has any), walking distance to records, candy, coffee and comic books (ha).

While I am excited to begin my journey (this would be life 3.0, after my divorce and this breakup), I am a bit nervous at the loneliness. You know, the first 2 weeks is all about getting settled and getting acclimated....after that the loneliness settles in. I recall after my divorce the loneliness was incredible. Like a press, pushing down on me. I'd see it was almost time to get off of work, then have a flash of the notion that....I have nothing to hurry home for. No one is there. I'll be alone.

I am hopeful the 2 years of living alone post divorce will aid me now. That having no one to go home to means going to a coffee shop and surfing the web...generally going out and not being such a (lonely) homebody. It was funny that, back then, once in a while I'd recognize that I could laze around the place naked if I wished, I could go out and come in late (only pay the price in the morning), I could do whatever I wanted.

This time I want to revel in this freedom, and hopefully keep the specter of loneliness at bay. . .

I stream from iTunes and the quality is very good, even on most SD titles. If you haven't tried, do...you know, versus watching Netflex in a 1mbt connection and then spouting off about how streaming quality is bad. I buy movies from iTunes almost exclusively and I love my big LIBRARY of digital movies, all at my disposal with the click of my appletv remote.
I understand the allure of Blue-Ray and HD movies, but those who flagrantly bash everything but, you are the minority (albeit vocal). 720p is fine for me and I suspect for most. Having 120 movies at 3 clicks of the remote is great and no shelves to display tired amaray cases, is icing on the cake.

Love that green chair!!

My question is...I live in Arizona (cultural blackhole of soulless existence) and am contemplating a move to Washington, is it as dreary as they say? All the pics I see its mostly sunny....

since college tuition is constantly rising and the average income is falling, its online or nothing for alot of people. The irony is Republicans want only the rich and privieged to have education, and the 2008 recession saw lots of unskilled/semi skilled jobs get flushed from existance, so the result is Universities are hurting. I cant afford college, i can make it work online though.....true you lose the social aspect, which I missed out on and deeply regret many years ago....but an education is a must unless you want to be doomed to a profession easily dismissable by the economy (like me!)

I haven't used my optical drive in so long, I'd rather have a 2nd hard drive. Optical drives WILL go obsolete with the app store and 10.7 being offered via download. I will be first in line to buy my updates online and direct download...optical media is obsolete.

I don't believe with amazon or iTunes has used DRM in music for years..... So the whole argument on that is NIL. DRM exists because of the labels. I'd rather buy from the artist directly as well.
