My mother, who is black and grew up in North Carolina, absolutely LOVES that movie. She was born in 1940 and very fondly remembers going to the theater to see it. She continues to be puzzled as to why its not available on dvd. You can get clips of it on compilation dvd's, but never the full movie. Whenever my sisters and I try to talk to her about why, as a woman whose life made her very familiar with racism, she really shouldn't love this movie she just shakes her head at us. She would love that movie poster. I still wouldn't buy it for her.
