An excellent smaller garden center is Garden Fever! in Portland. I also like Pistils on Mississippi for an urban garden shop - chickens and all!

This is great. I'd add: Never stop making new friends. It does get more challenging as you get older but you need friends even more then!

I see you even positioned the right rod support bracket to add to the visual centering effect. It's often tose little details that perfect the illusion.

Sorry to disagree (and I have and like dark hardwood floors) but you've lost so much of the grain with this finish and that's what hardwoods are all about. I hope it's just your pictures and that the floors look richer in person.

I love my old garlic press, too. In addition to the speed of getting pressed garlic out of it, I like that my fingers don't need major scrubbing to remove the garlic smell from them. We recently got a fancy, new, self-cleaning garlic press, but I keep going back to my old favorite!

I've had generally good luck buying on CL, including furniture and even a car. I've had GREAT luck giving away free stuff, but one negative experience selling, when a buyer offered less than half my asking price on a table, after being significantly late for the appointment. I had pictured, described and priced the table well, so I was annoyed enough to turn him down and offer it free to a friend instead. Take that CL karma, lowballer! Now I rarely sell stuff - it's just not worth the work to me.

This is it. The real thing in the original color.
Perfect for any kitchen, but it should be in mine!

After years of needing to separate more than 8 family members and guests into two different rooms for a sit-down dinner, I finally got smart and bought a cheap but solid 6' folding table. It meets up nicely with my rectangular dining room table, and the whole thing looks great with white tablecloths. I can seat 14+ and we can all be together at the table. Most satisfying furniture purchase I've made in years!

I think the melding of personal invitations with business or charitable invitations on sites like Evite contribute to the attitude of not taking invitations seriously. When you get invited to fundraisers and kids parties in exactly the same way, it's natural to treat them more the same. But I don't give as high a priority to a business-related gathering as I do to, say, my child's friend's birthday party, so I may not immediately respond.

I have noticed that people even procrastinate on returning written invitations for a wedding (if they respond at all.) It's just the times...

Lots of good suggestions here already. I'll add: try to give your host(s) a few breaks by reading, napping, going out for a walk/errand. We love having you, but still need a little personal time during your stay.

I'm a big fan of Danger Garden and have been following Loree's posts since 2009. It's amazing that this spectacular garden is on a standard, 50x100 foot lot.

So glad to see spaces like this on AT, especially now when we're all thinking outdoors. I'd love to see more coverage, maybe a weekly garden/outdoor space tour?

This Master Gardener was taught to add compost in a layer over the soil. Delicate microbial relationships are less disturbed and the worms and critters gradually take it down further. If your soil is so bad that you must first amend it by tilling, try to leave it afterwards and allow the soil web to recover by adding it to the surface only.

Totally agree about using a duvet. It's a breeze to make the bed, and it's so much more comfortable than a bunch of layered covers that slide apart. I also color-order my clothes, but I thought that was just me being OCD!
