I would love some non-construction ideas, too. We live in an open concept loft with very high ceilings and have easily, oh, 12-15' feet above our kitchen cabinets. I have no idea what to put up there-- it gets fairly dusty and greasy as it is right above the stove. Any ideas would be welcome! Mind the Gap: Fresh Ideas For Decorating the Kitchen Soffit |

I recently became transfixed by stuffed cabbage rolls and saw a riff on a Korean BBQ-like filling that was wrapped in bok choy leaves. Looked delicious! Chowing Down on Bok Choy! 10 Ways to Love This Asian Green Ingredient Spotlight |

We use a (cleaned out & sterilized) Rogue beer bottle with a flip top. I think it was from a series they did with Morimoto and the label is painted on and beautiful. It's a white, opaque ceramic bottle so it's perfect for olive oil! A Perrier Bottle Makes a Really Excellent (and Cheap!) Oil Cruet Reader Tip |

Totally kick ass. I used a pinch of red pepper flakes and a squirt of sriracha because I didn't have a jalapeño on hand. This is SO FAST and SO EASY, we served it with a side of roasted brussels sprouts, onions and garlic tossed with bacon bits and avocado. Amazeballs. Will go into heavy rotation in our house! Oh, I would love to try these! I've been so interested in them since reading Judy Roger's account of them in the Zuni cookbook. Sadly, I don't know how available they are in Milwaukee... but I will keep my eyes peeled! You Must Try These: Green Almonds Ingredient Spotlight |

If concerned, you might consider doing 1c mayo and 1c greek yogurt. I love the tang that yogurt gives dips like this, but mayo also gives a creaminess. In my house, both of those would be full fat, because that's just how we roll. Spring Recipe: Creamy Parmesan Dip Recipes from The Kitchn |

Back when I was a waitress, the restaurant I worked for used to occasionally cater weddings and the "midnight snack" was often a mashed potato bar. They'd put out martini glasses and a vat o' garlic mash plus a ton of toppings: cheese, bacon, creme fraiche, scallions, chili... It was quite a hit with the tipsy guests. My parents have one of these and we're staying here for the week. I am used to my humble Bodum french press and make my coffee by weight at home... There's no scale here so I've been eyeballing the proportions of grounds to water but it is a very nice system. I'm not sure I'm enough of a supertaster to really discern a difference in the Espro coffee versus a typical french press, but I do like that it has the thermal carafe to keep it warm. Very easy to use/clean, too. Coffee for a Crowd: The Espro Press, A New (& Better) French Press Coffee Maker |

Would LOVE to hear more about readers' emergency meals. @annamasse-- care to share the details on the oven roasting? I've been toasting mine in a pan with a pinch of cinnamon and some sea salt but I wonder if the oven wouldn't give a more even toast. I feel like they are easy to burn even in the pan... do you just roast low and slow? Product Love: Trader Joe's Roasted Coconut Chips |

I'm a speech-language pathologist, not a teacher, but we get gifts in a similar fashion this time of year...
