My daughter just turned 2, and in the last 2 years we have made at least 30 long flights (5 hours+) Heads up that lap children are free only on domestic flights...I learned this the hard way. International flights charge you a certain percentage (varies per airline) even for a lap infant. I end up paying the lap infant fee, bringing the car seat along on a go-go kidz (hands down the best piece of baby gear I have ever owned) and trying to get an empty seat for the car seat at the gate.
