I was very happy to receive an old oak dresser from my mum when she downsized, it is beautiful, functional and as mum had stripped all the old varnish off it is even more beautiful.
It is all about taste though!

Go back and buy good secondhand, timeless style will prove itself in your home. I begged my mum for an oak sideboard which was in our home when I was a child, it now sits in my Living room and is just as functional and beautiful as it always was. Furniture should be considered an investment if you want it to last a lifetime and don't want it as a consumable item.

It's just bizarre I wouldn't buy it. It's the kind of thing my ex would've come up with. We used to eat a lot of rabbit and the furs were always an issue to me.

There is a huge stigma in the UK attached to renting in part because it is equated with being in Council housing which is owned by the local council, in the late 80's early 90's there was a huge push towards "Right to buy" which has resulted in low housing stocks for those in need (in these harsh times A LOT of families)
This has also pushed private rent prices up hugely which is the other issue. I am one of the very lucky ones guaranteed a rented home for life unless I suddenly start earning a good wage. I would not be able to afford to live reasonably if I didn't rent this flat/apartment, particularly in Cambridge (UK) I refuse to feel bad about not buying in a city where the average house price is £340,000!

Glad that the loss of my back boiler and 70's gas fire twinned with badly splatted plaster (I live in local council housing in the UK) puts me right on trend!

I like the idea, personally would've done the cushion with a bright paisley to imitate the wood at the back.

I love the last tree, one of the joys of the Christmas tree for me is to sit and look at all the beautiful little decorations and bits and bobs hidden in the branches.
