Wow! What a great job! I really like it. You should keep your eye out for a bird bath or a feeder. I think it would be a good addition to the garden bed to the right. :)

Superb! I really love how it feels clean yet not hyper-organized-- a common complaint I have when I see a lot of "after" photos of offices. Don't get me wrong, it is indeed organized, but not a million containers for a million things. I may incorporate the shelving look in my bedroom.

Wow, tough crowd! I think it looks great- very fresh and clean and is no longer visually...musty?

I would like to see a row of books in place of the cameras and maybe a few useful things tossed into the basket...maybe a cup of bright yellow pencils with a pad of paper at the desk....but other than that, I really do like it.

Nice work. :)

I feel as if, as many people have stated, there is too much going on in this room.

I'd start by removing at least 1/3 of the seating. The long couch (dark brown) should stay, and maybe one of the chairs or something. How many people live here? That should be how you determine the amount of seating you need. You can always pick up some alternative options for seating when additional people are at your house.

I'd also put the 2 coffee table next to each other to make one long table.

Pull the rug so it's centered under the long couch. Move the television to where the other couch is.

Although I'm not sure that you were necessarily looking for help, I think it would do your space wonders if you at least tried it!

wow! what a great home. before today i was not a huge fan of orange, and while i still don't know if i could pull it off in my own home, i do have a new appreciation for the color.

i really like how sophisticated this house is, and it's a nice break from what seems to be some of the same styles that get shown over and over.

it also makes me wonder how i would do in an 800 sq ft home. sometimes tours like this make me want to sell my house and go small.

that's gorgeous! great job, it looks like a brand new mantel even though it isn't!!!

our fireplace is horrendous. dusty blue ceramic tile, plastered walls all around and gold trim. i need ot get an angle grinder and take the tile off, but i'm waiting till we can get a new surround first.

bookmarking this as inspiration!

I love the cabinet with the slab that extends over the side in the kitchen!

You guys have a great home. It feels lived in without feeling cluttered, which is great!

PS- I also love the fact that you listed CB2 as a dream source- thank you for making me feel better about my own dream sources. Sometimes I see DWR all over the furniture list and then some super high end places in the "dream source" list and I sit here and think "and i can hardly afford Urban Outfitters..."

I know that my house will feel like home when I finally have:

-Good lighting
-All the kitchen stuff that I feel like I'm missing
-A comfortable couch
-A comfortable chair
-Good dining chairs
-Reading area

Right now we have a hot tub, and though it is nice, we have found that we just don't use it enough to justify the energy & maintenance cost. If it was a really nice one, we might like it more. But it's not anything spectacular and it's expensive. Came with the house.

2 more things (that we have and love having):
-A nice fire pit. This was our first "luxury" item for the house- I built it last summer and everybody likes to sit around it!
-A large enough yard for out of town friends to camp out in the summer or for the kids to run around.

Home Luxuries: Which Ones Are Worth It?

Wow, you are getting a lot of mixed feedback!

Here are my two cents:

Yeah, the bed is big. But I still think you can work with it. To me, it feels very masculine. The color on the wall doesn't feel either masculine or feminine. I think that your idea for slate is dead on. I have a really great photo in my inspiration folder that has rich, dark wood, dark chalky walls, white accents and mirrors. It is one of my favorite photos I have saved.

I think this would look good:

-keep the bed. it's beautiful.
-keep the curtains.
-paint the walls a chalky blue-black. i'd go flat or close to flat, personally.
-get a large mirror with a frame the same wood tone as the bed, if possible.
-i can't see the lamps you have, but i think that lamps with a clear glass base would go a very long way in this room.
-keep the linens solid. i know people said texture, but look at all the textures on the bedframe! i wouldn't want to compete with those. i'd go white if possible and maybe a velvety, deep blue for pillows.

i hope that helped. like i said, you are getting a lot of different feedback. do YOU like the bed? that's really all that matters. i think that the green is really throwing it off but if you work with it rather than against it, your room will look awesome. try overstock & tj maxx homegoods for somewhat budget friendly items.

I think that Canyon Echo by Glidden would look lovely. It's a warm grey but a very light grey. I searched for the perfect grey for months and that's what I finally settled on. You can see it in the photos here...I'd say the bottom photo is the most true:

http://operation-paper-cut.blogspot.com/2011/01/living-room-switcheroo.html

Anyway, I think this color would work because of the warm undertones- it wouldn't compete with the floor or fireplace.

Although, if you chose the right pale blue, it would look lovely, too.

I would try to avoid colors with green undertones, which most greys seem to have.

I'd also avoid anything too bold- you have a lot of richness already and I think that anything dark or saturated would be chaos.

Good luck!
